Chris Noth’s previously planned last scene in the final episode of And Just Like That… has unsurprisingly ended up on the editing room floor after multiple women made a string of sexual assault allegations against the actor.

Confirmed via an exclusive to TVLine, Noth was due to make a brief appearance in the episode set to air on February 3, during which (minor spoilers for those somehow still unaware) Noth’s character, Mr. Big, appeared next to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw as she spread her late husband’s ashes into the Seine River from Paris’ Pont des Arts bridge. Big was previously killed off in the Sex And The City sequel’s premiere.

Noth’s nixed goodbye is perhaps the least of the actor’s worries during the current, ensuing fallout. Last month, the actor’s agency “unceremoniously” dropped him from their list of clients only a couple days before he was fired from his role on The Equalizer. (Noth’s final appearance on that Queen Latifah-led series aired this past Sunday, January 2.) A joint PR campaign between Peloton HBO starring Noth and Ryan Reynolds was also pulled not long after the allegations went public. On top of all that, his plans to sell his tequila company also collapsed in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, And Just Like That…’s trio of returning stars—Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis—have collectively voiced support for Noth’s accusers. Noth, for his part, has steadfastly denied all the current allegations against him, stating, “These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no—that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”

So dumb. First off these are allegations, not conclusions. Second, the scene was made already. Run it and don’t bring him back if it came to that.

Folks are sensitive now that it’s now pathetic.

I find it odd that a lot of people are putting blame on Parker, Davis and Nixon for not distancing themselves sooner? I’ve worked with creeps too, it fucking sucks, but there’s not much you can do until there’s something concrete to go off of. Just classic blame anyone but the rapist mentality.

In 2000, if they tried to distance themselves, the story in US Weekly would be that they were demanding, uptight, difficult to work with, ruining his reputation, couldn’t take a joke or jilted lovers. Maybe there was a time between the end of the original series and now to do something, if they were even really aware of any of this, but my general understanding of Hollywood is that if you refused to work with ANY 50+ actor who you’d heard or suspected (but didn’t explicitly know) to be like this, it wouldn’t leave a ton of actors to work with.

      Is there anything concrete yet?

A guy like Noth wouldn’t get away with it for so long if he wasn’t extremely charming. Maybe the rumors swirled but maybe he was also a perfect gentleman most of the time. I don’t know the details but all of the creeps I’ve known were also really likable and charismatic guys with a lot of friends of both sexes, their incidents were occasional and behind closed doors and required use of that charm to get the victim in that situation to begin with. When you heard the rumors they were vague and unprovable so what were you supposed do, quit your job or cut off a group of friends in protest that maybe someone had a dark side? The idea that anyone could “come forward” before modern social media is laughable too. Think of what that would require in the 90s or early 00s, you’d have to basically find a reporter willing to take on your story. Or, I dunno, publish a Geocities page that would make you look unstable. There’s a very good reason this movement happened in the 2010s.

especially as women they would be absolutely shredded by the media unless it was a crying barbara walters special, and even then.

“Charming” sometimes just means “well connected” too. Harvey Weinstein was a creep*, but he was a creep that had a ton of power in Hollywood, so you worked with him because not working with him meant being labeled as difficult and finding your roles and opportunities dried up.Not that Chris Fucking Noth was a Weinstein-level power player, but he still had enough influence to get his shit covered up.*Understatement, obviously.

So real talk; what’s the over/under on this show getting renewed for another season?

  • jamestaylor03-av says:

So, you’re saying that Just Like That, he was gone?

I just realized who’s famous for saying that, making it particularly apropos.

I’m a little confused about the tequila. Is it not good on its own merit? Who the hell even knew he had a tequila before this happened?

    • gildie-av says:

Don’t you know? Every straight male actor over 40 has a pseudo-premium liquor brand. If all they could get was Chris Noth you know it can’t be anything special.

I don’t know if anyone else is getting/seeing this, but when I scroll down on this page and then scroll back up the words “Subscribe to our newsletter!” are pasted on the right of Noth’s mouth.
It’s like doubling-down on crap in the same space.

    Just like that?Just like that.

I feel like people forget this is a choice. It’s subjective that we have to frantically erase every single appearance in fiction of an actor who’s been accused of misconduct. One might even say that most fully grown adults should be able to watch a character and understand that they’re watching just that. A character. If keeping him in the last episode would be some sort of career boost, that’s one thing. But the smart money is on his career either being over or severely damaged, and a cameo won’t change that.
