Nothing spices up a boring work meeting like having a late-night talk show host show up and yell at your boss. This week, the employees of the Palo Alto-based software company TIBCO were treated to just that, as Conan O’Brien used some insider information to virtually crash their Zoom call. After immediately declaring that management had “lost its way” and that he’s disappointed with their sales, O’Brien directed his ire on anybody within his field of vision, including poor Alan with the fun background.

Without a doubt, TIBCO employees were excited to infuse some new energy into their business and hear a veteran comedian regurgitate the sales copy on their company website. However, we’re worried Conan’s future at TIBCO might be in jeopardy. After all, he got a thumbs down from Jakey. That’s not going to look good on his quarterly review. At least it sounds like he’ll get a new sweatshirt out of the deal.

Zoombombing has the potential to become a recurring segment on Conan, at least as long as O’Brien and his team are producing things remotely. This could even be a way for the host to seamlessly transition into a career as an emotionally abusive motivational speaker.

TIBCO, nice!  I use Spotfire all the time.

Conan deciding to read out the TIBCO website information was just sublime. As for his relentless roasting of the boss. It’s been stated several times, but one of the weirdest realizations has been that Conan is a legitimate comedy icons of our era. And this is just one of the reasons why as who does this?

His original Late Night Show does not get (and probably never will get) the credit it deserves for being just absurdly genius. I put it up there with something like Monty Python.

For me, that has been one of the revelatory parts of his podcast as visiting comics constantly put over how it influenced their comedy.

The original Late Night was also a power house of comedic minds. The writers room was Conan, Andy Richter, Robert Smigel, Louis CK, and Bob Odenkirk among others.

And those are just the ones who went on to be well known. Guys like Brian McCann, Jon Glazer, Brian Stack, Andy Blitz and and Dan Goor are all amazingly funny in their own right.

Louis CK was on the Late Night with Conan o’Brien writing staff? Huh. I never realized Masturbating Bear was based on a true story.

That show deserves a spot on the pantheon if all they did was “In the year 2000” and the Walker Texas Ranger Lever.

Conan is absolutely perfect for off the cuff stuff like this, like his travelling videos – it really shows in an era of awkward talk show hosts saying awkward things on their online shows (*cough* Jimmy Fallon). Really separates the good from the ‘meh’ with no cues around.

sounds funnier than it turned out.

Given Zoom’s poor security I’m gonna assume what they really did was just easily hack into a random Zoom meeeting.

    • furioserfurioser-av says:

With Zoom’s security, I wouldn’t call it “hacking”.

    • radarskiy-av says:

Given that Conan explicitly said “We found an insider at a company” (and the call was being recorded from the point when Mark joined, long before Conan showed up), I’m gonna assume what the really did was find an insider at a company.

“an emotionally abusive motivational speaker”Is there any other kind?
