If you haven’t fully recovered from the battle royale that was trying to get tickets for Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour, prepare for your soul to break once again with Beyoncé’s upcoming Renaissance tour.

While expectations were rightly low from fans in snatching a ticket for the “Break My Soul” singer (especially with Ticketmaster’s recent issues), a new statement from Ticketmaster warns that ticket demands exceed their own supply by “more than 800%.”

“Fan demand already exceeds the number of tickets available by more than 800% based on the registration numbers in the Group A cities,” reads the online post from Ticketmaster. “It is expected that many interested fans may not be able to get tickets because demand drastically exceeds supply.”

With that much fan demand, Ticketmaster has already added secondary shows to existing stops in seven cities: Toronto, Chicago, Washington, D.C. Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, and East Rutherford. Of course, that will likely be a drop in the bucket for an 800% demand vs. actual ticket supply, still leaving many fans empty-handed.

This will come as foreboding news for those who’ve attempted to get tickets for well-known artists from Ticketmaster in the last few months. The dominant ticketing company came under intense scrutiny last year after canceling the general sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, resulting in a Congressional hearing full of Swiftie puns and questions over Ticketmaster and Live Nation’s practices. Tales of Ticketmaster’s follies even went straight to the White House, with President Joe Biden recently proposing limits on all those slapped-on fees seen on concert tickets.

As the BeyHive waits it out to see if even the nose-bleed seats are available, it’s likely we’ll see Queen Bey herself at this weekend’s 65th Annual Grammy Awards, where she has the chance to make history as the most-awarded artist in the show’s run.

So add some more shows. How hard can it be to rewind the backing tapes and reset the auto-tune?

    • ajohnson1985-av says:

Also, she is 100 live. She has 1500lbs of background singers and 24 piece band.

    • goodkinja1999-av says:

Haha, right? Every stadium in the world is free for an infinite number of nights – with no other events planned – so it should be easy!

    • ajohnson1985-av says:

Just say u don’t like black women LOL. We see u hater.

      • kinjacaffeinespider-av says:

What does THE FACT that NO ONE in pop music plays, sings or composes a note of their music have to do with being black?

        • lisalionhearts-av says:

Tell me that you’ve never bothered to watch a Beyonce performance without telling me. She is known for performing with very talented women musicians as her backing band. Five seconds of googling brought up this: https://www.berklee.edu/events/beyonc%C3%A9s-original-all-female-band-10-year-anniversary-concertSo your FACTS are total bullshit and that’s why you’re getting called racist. You assumed that this Black woman was not a real musician with no evidence. There is actually quite a bit of evidence disproving your terrible claim. Please, as AJohnson said, just admit you don’t like Black women (or pop music) and be quiet.

You assumed that this Black woman was not a real musician with no evidence.Hold on, Beyonce is a musician because she hires a professional band to play backup for her? What kind of logic is that? You do understand that Beyonce is a professional singer, there is absolutely no denying that, but she does not play a single instrument live. You know, the one thing you need to do to actually be a professional musician. The fact that you’re parroting the exact same “well if you don’t like her then you’re racist against black women” line as the other troll speaks volumes. It’s clear you’re struggling to critically think and it’s safe to assume you’re just another beehive fan blinded by your biases.

Professional singers are musicians, they use their voices as instruments. Anyone who composes, conducts or performs music can be considered a musician, you pedantic, racist dick. Beyonce is a high-profile Black woman at the top of her field and y’all are throwing extremely baseless shade at her, discounting her talent & achievement based on absolutely nothing. 39 years on this planet as a Black woman has taught me that yes, this is often what racism looks like. But please, go on. To me y’all sound like those random dudes who swear they can best Serena Williams at tennis.

          • yesidrivea240-av says:

you pedantic, racist dick.Lmfao. Okay yeah, that’s what I thought. Can’t expect rationality from a moron like you that immediately accuses people of being racist because they disagreed with what you said. I don’t even need to address the many strawman fallacies you’re screaming about, you’ve already proven you can’t communicate without making shit up.

          • spiraleye-av says:

Fun fact: Lisa Simpson is more of a musician than Beyonce, and she’s not even real.

          • kinjacaffeinespider-av says:

well you’re wrong again.none of the white ones sing either. happy now?

      • yesidrivea240-av says:

Holy shit. You went from “Beyonce plays live” to “You’re racist and don’t like black women” in literally two fucking comments? Congratulations on being the dumbest motherfucker on the internet today.

Beyonce fans: “QUEEN”. Average, non club-going white person: “Huh, maybe I should check her out, I love (insert Nina,Ella,Aretha,Diana,Mary J. whoever here)“. Average white person “she’s fine I guess, but I don’t get it”. Beyonce fans “RACIST CRACKER MOTHERFUCKING HATER!!!” Much like Limp Bizkit,Rage and Tool, the fans are the worst thing about Beyonce.

I generally hate country music, but one of the coolest things I have ever seen with respect to concerts was the last time Garth Brooks came to my city. Every time a show sold out he added another one (and I live in a city with about a million people). I think he ended up playing at least one afternoon show. But if artists say they are all about fans and want them to get tickets that is really the only way.

  • hemmorhagicdancefever-av says:

Maybe they could up the ‘convenience fee’ by 800% to help lower the demand, or whatever excuse they use to rip off customers.

  • charliemeadows69420-av says:

Beyonce and her fans are garbage people.

  • daveassist-av says:

Wait… in this comments section, we have someone that likes to call others racist, just declare Beyonce, and also her fans, many of whom are Black, to be trash people? That’s some projecting right there.

  • yellowfoot-av says:

I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to resolve the issue. They’re literally called Ticket Master. They obviously know what they’re doing when it comes to selling tickets.

  • planehugger1-av says:

The simple fact is that there are way, way more people who want to go to a Beyonce concert then there are tickets. Ticketmaster sucks, but I’m not sure what it has to do with that problem. There are basically two ways to solve this huge discrepancy between demand and supply. You can do what Beyonce and Ticketmaster did — make the tickets broadly available at high but not unreachable prices, and accept that many fans with the desire and money to buy tickets nevertheless won’t get them. Or you can raise the price until demand and supply match, by squeezing out all but the richest Beyonce fans. It’s hard to imagine the AV Club would prefer the latter option.

The issue is the dynamic pricing model that immediately pushes prices waaaaay up. There were plenty of shows that sell out quickly, but the people who get tickets don’t end up paying thousands for the privilege. Also, to optimize our chances of getting into the pre-sale my family had four accounts going for the Taylor Swift pre-sale, even though we only wanted 4 tickets total. So did everyone else we knew who wanted tickets. So I expect that 800% is pretty skewed.

      • jpfilmmaker-av says:

“So I expect that 800% is pretty skewed.” Undoubtedly, but getting headlines about it will drive that dynamic pricing up, since it inflates the scarcity.  Greedy fuckers.

    • xpdnc-av says:

There are actually 2 viable solutions to the problem, only one of which will be acceptable to the parties involved. The first solution is to return to the practice of requiring the ticket purchaser to show up to the venue. About a decade ago this was done for at least a Springsteen tour, and I was able to buy good face value tickets from Ticketmaster. This practice locks out scalpers, but more problematically it ends the secondary market. Both Ticketmaster and the artists themselves benefit greatly from the secondary market, so it’s not going away. The second solution is simulcasting shows into movie theaters. I saw multiple shows of the Grateful Dead’s (so-called) farewell tour at Soldier Field at a movie theatre. Great sound, comfortable seating, easy in and out access, it was an excellent way to see the show. Other artists could certainly do the same thing, which would allow all of those fans that can’t pony up 4 figures for a seat to the live show itself, and the artist still collects a big chunk of the box office.

It’s probably all the bluegrass fans.

  • apostkinjapocalypticwasteland-av says:

Have you heard about our real Lord and Savior, Taylor Swift?

  • chagrinshaw2001-av says:

Why is this 800% number being bandied about like it’s some shocking revelation? She’s one of the most popular singers in the world… and a fucking stadium holds only so many people.

  • bashbash99-av says:

well, if its any help, i won’t be buying any

Looks like that fat gene is starting to kick in. HAAA!!!
