Denis Leary moving from firefighters to paramedics with new TV show

Aux Features TV

With Rescue Me drawing to a close this fall, Denis Leary has already begun thinking about his next TV project and, surprise, it’s another show that finds the humor in emergency response teams. In a pilot he’s currently developing for the USA Network, Leary will follow The Job’s police officers and Rescue Me’s firefighters with an adaptation of the UK series Sirens, which concerns the day-to-day dramedy of a team of paramedics—a dark comedy that would mark a subtle tonal shift away from USA’s usual tropical breeziness. (It would also be the network’s first half-hour comedy series, a format USA says it’s hoping to begin making a regular part of its lineup.) At the moment Leary has not yet decided whether he will star or even take a supporting role in Sirens, but we’d be willing to bet Lenny Clarke gets in there somewhere.
