Flight of the Conchords taped and released a special, Flight of the Conchords: Live in London for HBO in 2018, and now, New Zealand’s “fourth most popular parody duo” has announced a new live album, recorded around the same time. The album, also called Live in London, arrives March 8 on Sub Pop, and will be available on 2xCD/3xLP as well as digitally, so you can take new material from Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie with you wherever you go. Even to your gig as a part-time model.
The album was taped during a London show during Clement and McKenzie’s Flight Of The Conchords Sing Flight Of The Conchords Tour in the United Kingdom earlier this year, and will mark the pair’s first recording since 2013’s “Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That),” which won them a New Zealand Music Award for Highest Selling Single. Their last full-length album was 2009’s I Told You I Was Freaky, which cracked the top 20 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Live in London features seven new songs, as well as performances of fan favorites “Inner City Pressure,” “Bowie,” “Foux du Fafa,” “Mutha’uckas – Hurt Feelings,” “Robots,” “Carol Brown,” and “The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room).”
Neither of the Conchords have been bored since their flight was at its peak. Clement has been doing voice work for films like Moana and The Lego Batman Movie, as well as TV shows like Rick & Morty. (He plays a fart.) McKenzie, meanwhile, has been honing his skills as a music supervisor for motion pictures. He’s also a member of the Muppet community, having helmed the soundtracks for The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014). The former of which even won him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song “Man Or Muppet”.
Perhaps this new album will be the thing that finally pushes them up in the New Zealand parody duo rankings. Check out the first single from Live in London, “Iain and Deanna,” here.

It really should be released on the 6th of March, not the 8th, as that is Wednesday, and we all know what that means. I mean, it’s when everything is just right.
wednesday is the day that business is conducted.
Monday night is my night to cook
Tuesday night we go and visit your mother
Two days before the release date is not the release date, mum.
Conditions are perfect!
I know what you’re trying to say…
I still keep that old baggy tshirt from my old work.
So thrilled to hear this. Carol Brown is a beautiful (and honest) song about love that never fails to trigger a bittersweet shudder (but in a good way!) every time I hear it.
And as my French nasal laugh is as good as Jemaine’s, Foux de Fafa is one of my favorites with which to impress my girlfriend, who actually speaks it beyond my 2nd-year level.

I love Foux de Fafa! I remember when the show Chuck was on, it was featured in the yogurt shop! I think I was the only one who noticed.
wot?
Flight of the Conchords: Live in London was great. Their humour hits me just right.
I could win the lottery later and this would still be the best news I’ve gotten today.
And suddenly, Albie wasn’t racist any more.
Hello Br’t.
“Clement has been doing voice work for films like Moana and The Lego Batman Movie, as well as TV shows like Rick & Morty. (He plays a fart.)” He was also great in What We Do in the Shadows, and he and Aubrey Plaza have stolen the show on Legion.
His explanation of why vampires prefer virgins in What We Do in the Shadows is quite brilliant.
Best joke in a movie that has a lot of great jokes.
“Evil bidding”
One of the things that I love about his turns on Moana and Rick and Morty is that he’s doing Bowie homages in song in both cases. If Clement wanted to do a Bowie parody every other year for the rest of his professional life, I wouldn’t mind.
I’m not crying. My eyes are just a little sweaty today.
I’ve just been cutting onions. I was making a lasagne…for one.
Such funny guys. Such bad songs. I love them when they’re not playing music.
Confirmed: Seagull is on the album. It’s the best thing they’ve ever done.
And by saying you’re like a rock
he means that you’re hard, cold and emotionally impenetrable
unlike him, the freewheeling seagull
Their latest HBO special is wonderful.
Super psyched for this, especially because the live show had a really good mix of new stuff, classics, and a few unreleased tracks iirc like Bus Driver Song. The initial singles on spotify though….they’re ok? But it’s kind of annoying to have the crowd reactions so loud in the mix, especially because a lot of what they’re reacting to is visual.
Hopefully the Hip-hop-Opattamus will make an appearance.
IT’S BUSINESS TIMESorry, I had to. I’m really excited for this.
