In a new, highly unscientific study for Billy On The Street, Billy Eichner ventures to find out whether gay people care about John Oliver. Of course, the HBO host is by Eichner’s side for this investigation, and thus must come face to face with people who don’t give a shit about him and his comedic monologues.
To add insult to injury for Oliver, Eichner poses a follow-up question to his subjects: Do you like Wendy Williams? Even the one guy who says he cares about Oliver admits he prefers Williams to the Daily Show alum. Also of note: It’s not a perfect comparison, but the enthusiasm for Oliver on the sidewalks of New York pales in comparison to the reaction Debra Messing gets in her now-recurring segment, “It’s Debra Messing, You Gays.”
