Guillermo Del Toro and the creator of Metal Gear Solid are making a new Silent Hill game starring Norman Reedus
Aux Features GamesSony already announced a ton of stuff at its Gamescom press conference earlier today, but it decided to make people work for its final—and arguably most exciting—reveal. During the presentation, Sony showed a teaser for a new horror game code-named P.T. that fans could download a demo for on their PlayStations at home. Of course, as spoiled by the headline of this very article, it turned out to be a little more than that.
Twitch user SoapyWarpig played through the demo and saved everyone the trouble of having to do it themselves by posting a video of it online. It mostly consists of walking through a spooky house and shining a flashlight on spooky things as spooky ghost-like figures occasionally pop up, but as the demo ends it shows a familiar fog-filled town and the names of Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, and Guillermo Del Toro. Then it reveals that the game’s actual title is Silent Hills and that it’s going to star the computer-generated likeness of The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. So it turns out this isn’t just any horror game, this is a horror game being made by a legendary game designer and a famous director, stars a fan-favorite actor, and is a sequel/reboot/whatever of a long-running scary video game series. With all of those selling points, we’re not sure they’ll have room for anything else on the box. Maybe a small picture of one of those nurse monsters.

Also, this isn’t the first time Kojima has purposefully made a new game announcement as confusing as possible. Last year, he invented a fake studio and gave a fake interview just to reveal that a previously announced game—The Phantom Pain—was actually Metal Gear Solid V in disguise. So there’s a good chance this also part of some crazy scheme, but it’s impossible to know for sure. We’re just going to go with it.
