Hayley Williams pulls a Taylor Swift, announces new solo album to drop at midnight

Paramore singer Hayley Williams recently gave superfan Carly Butler the enviable treat of hand-delivering her latest solo single, “My Limb,” so she could listen to it before anyone else. Williams documented the experience on video, saying, “Okay, we’re going to drop off a Sanctuary candle and a burnt copy of one of the songs to Carly in Nashville right now. I hope she doesn’t think I’m coming to murder her if she looks out her window at just the right time. Or I hope she does, I don’t know.”
Butler “leaked” the song (with Williams’ permission, of course), prompting speculation about whether Williams had a new album in the works.
We now have our answer.
Williams pulled a Taylor Swift and shared on social media that she’s actually releasing an album on February 5, so prepare for new music at midnight. The new solo LP is called FLOWERS for VASES/descansos. “Descansos” is a name for memorials located at the site of violent deaths, usually in cases related to car and bike accidents. As a fan pointed out on Twitter, Williams recently liked on Twitter a link to the essay “Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, who encourages people who’ve survived trauma to make their own “descansos,” helping them heal.
Now we’ll just have to wait for her to release her Evermore, too.

Serious tangent. Why do women (and some guys) insist on carrying their phone in their back pocket? They’re always sticking out. Aren’t you worried you’ll sit on it or it’ll pop out when your out of the house? I’ve literally seen someone get their phone snatched by a dude getting off a bus. Lady was standing with her back to the door, holding on to the bar. Dude walked up from the back quickly and casually slid it out of her back pocket and hopped off. She didn’t even notice.
You’re not aware of the terrible plight of women’s jeans having fake front pockets? It’s a widespread, long running tyranny. (Not /s, I’d be so pissed if I was a woman for this reason alone.)
I’m keenly aware of it. My wife makes me carry all her stuff when she doesn’t have her bag, precisely for that reason. It just boggles my mind that they make fake pockets for women’s pants. Is society really that vain that we have to remove pockets for…what, a slimming effect?

I’ve been wondering if covid had scuttled her solo career. So many artists albums and plans got screwed by covid killing tours that I wondered if maybe Hayley wasn’t going to have to do a Paramore release and tour first before trying to go solo again.
