Critics hate everything, right? Well, apparently sometimes we like to praise things because dozens of shows across almost 20 networks/platforms are among those who received nominations from the Television Critics Association on Thursday. Leading the pack of nominated series are HBO’s Watchmen and Netflix’s Unbelievable, with four nominations each. (Both series that are likely not to return, unfortunately.) For the second year in a row, HBO had the most nominations (16), followed by Netflix follows with 10 nods, FX/FX on Hulu with seven, Hulu and PBS/PBS Kids both with six, and NBC with five.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be a formal in-person awards presentation. Winners of the 36th annual TCA Awards will, instead, be announced later this summer.

Mandalorian did get nominated I guess, but it might as well not‘ve been. It stands 0% chance of winning with that competition. And is Jeremy Strong Mark Strong’s brother or relative? Or they just two unrelated people with the same last name?

    • actionactioncut-av says:

There is no relation; the Strongs are neither brothers nor husbands.

I thought so. I couldn’t find anything on imdb or wiki, but figured I’d ask in case someone knew something else.

I was expecting Mando to get some technical nom, myself. I read an article about the LED background thing they use and it sounds amazing.

      • deletethisshitasshole-av says:

I tried looking it up and all I found were the categories listed on this article, so it’s possible there is no technical awards to this one. Here’s what it says:

I can’t read the words “Heritage Award” and not cringe a bit. I am sure its not about Confederate racists but the fact is that word is used so much by that group that its sorta poisoned it for me.

All the money on WATCHMEN (this was easy)

    • ohnoray-av says:

Regina King really had one of my fave performances ever on a television show.(also a fave would be Carrie Coon in The Leftovers, Lindelof owes a lot to these ladies hehe).

Still haven’t finished it along with Mrs. America.

  • hamiltonistrash-av says:

lol yeah Maddow’s been killing it

  • wallyq-av says:

Rami Malek and Mr. Robot were robbed.

  • glo106-av says:

Happy for Rhea Seehorn’s nomination. I hope this is the year BCS finally starts winning some of the big awards.

    • jol1279-av says:

Since Watchmen won’t have any additional seasons and Better Call Saul has at least one more season, I predict Watchmen sweeping any category it’s been nominated for while BCS will get everything it’s nominated for in its last season.

The technical term for it is the “Lord of the Rings dilemma”

      • glo106-av says:

As much as I want the BCS actors to win something, I’d be 100% okay with Regina King winning everything. BCS will have that last season but then there always seems to be some hot new show that ends up getting all the attention. I hope there isn’t any such show so that the Lord of the Rings dilemma can happen for Rhea, Bob, and Jonathan.

Damn it! I can’t believe that the TCA screwed over Baby Yoda!

  • docprof-av says:

Per your lede – I don’t think that really proves anything. Something had to be nominated no matter what.

  • scarcyty-av says:

Kristen Bell’s performance in The Good Place deserves a nomination!!!

  • yttruim-av says:

Desus and Mero not nominated, WTF!

  • apostkinjapocalypticwasteland-av says:

No love for Floor Is Lava?!

  • enemiesofcarlotta-av says:

I REALLY don’t get the lack of love for Devs.

  • mattthecatania-av says:

This least is not valid for lack of Lodge 49.
