It looks like we’re not going to find out just how capable androids are at raising future post-Earth human children in just one year: As announced today in a press release, Ridley Scott’s Raised By Wolves and its stylish android bodysuits will be coming back for another season on HBO Max. The aforementioned press release notes that the series has been a strong performer on the streaming service, “growing its audience by nearly 50 percent week over week” (which certainly sounds impressive even if we have no choice but to take HBO Max’s word for it).

In a statement, HBO Max boss Sarah Aubrey highlighted the show’s “artistry” and noted that Raised By Wolves features “one of the most original storylines” that sci-fi and horror fans have seen “in some time.” In a statement of his own, Ridley Scott weirdly made a point to talk about how much he loved the Raised By Wolves advertising campaign and how it “deftly positioned” his series as a “must watch” show. He also, thankfully, added that Raised By Wolves writer/creator Aaron Guzikowski has already “begun to shape” the second season, so he did at least have something interesting to offer.

For those who aren’t among that (apparently) steadily growing audience, Raised By Wolves is about a pair androids (Mother and Father) who are trying to raise human children on a messed-up future planet while the grown-up humans argue about their various religious factions.

Somewhere, Kevin Garnett hangs his head over missing the chance to secure this title.

I’m enjoying the show well enough, but a part of me was hoping that it was a one-and-done, with everything tied up after one season. I guess I just don’t have a lot of faith in TV to keep a good thing going.

I can’t wait for more questionable haircuts! They look fairly good on some of the cast, but if this show becomes hugely popular I fear fashion mullets becoming a thing again, pro tip they’re not for everyone.

I guess it doesn’t end in a couple of weeks then…

Glad it’s getting another season, even though I have no clue what the hell it’s going to be about. I’m guessing milk…

I’m starting to get tired of hearing how this show is “Ridley Scott’s Raised By Wolves”. Yes he directed the first 2 episodes, the show is produced by his production company, and he is an Executive Producer, but he is one of *9* (?) EPs – he’s probably the only name in the EP list that most people recognize, but again, there are 9 of them. Plus there are 3 listed production companies making this show. Creator/EP Aaron Guzi-whatever appears to be the showrunner, writing the first 5 (?) episodes himself, but describing the show as his instead of Scott’s probably doesn’t get as many headlines. So many of the negative comments in the episode reviews here talk like Scott is the sole show-runner of this show, and how every bad decision is based upon things the commenters don’t like from other Scott films. It reminds me of how people complain about Lost and target JJ Abrams for everything they don’t like about it. Yes Abrams co-created the show, co-wrote the pilot and at least 1 other episode, but once Lindeloff/Cuse quickly became show-runners Abrams had virtually nothing to do with the show. And yet some people still blame everything they dislike about Lost on him.
