Here are the 2018 Rock Hall Of Fame inductees, starring Bon Jovi

Aux News Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

As the third planet from the sun completes another rotation of its orbit, so too does another celestial body finally burn bright with the illuminating glare that can only come from an online vote. That body, of course, belongs to Jon “Bon Bon” Bon Jovi. (That’s his nickname, right?)

And the rest of Bon Jovi, too. As Variety reports, the 2018 inductees to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame have been announced, and fan-favorites Bon Jovi lead the pack, the group having received the majority of public votes (more than one million) for induction. (Since the fan vote was instituted in 2012, the top vote-getter has been inducted each year.) The rest of the next year’s honorees are the Cars, Dire Straits, the Moody Blues, Nina Simone and gospel singer-guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

The winners were chosen from a stuffed roster of contenders that included Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, The J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, MC5, the Meters, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Link Wray, and the Zombies. (Perhaps first-time nominees Radiohead lost some votes when it was made public that they didn’t really give a shit about the possibility of being inducted.) The ceremony will return to Cleveland for the first time in three years, where the Hall Of Fame is located, and which is presumably eager to not have its thunder stolen once more by New York City or some similarly unknown shithole town.

Left unsaid is whether Richie Sambora, longtime guitarist for Bon Jovi, will be joining the group onstage for its acceptance and live performance. The musician left the band in 2013, but probably has a free spot on his calendar for that date, given that he said, “Oh yeah, I have no problem playing. None,” when asked if he could bury the hatchet and perform with his old bandmates once more.
