Here are the winners from the 2021 Gotham Awards

The 2021 Gotham Awards were held this evening in New York City. The event was a spirited start to awards season, and it has already firmed up some formidable frontrunners for the rest of the season.
Undoubtedly, the biggest winner of the evening was Maggie Gyllenhaal. Her film The Lost Daughter took home Best Feature—the biggest award of the night. The Lost Daughter also swept three other categories including: Best Screenplay, Outstanding Lead Performer, and the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award.
In addition to Gyllenhaal, Kristen Stewart and Peter Dinklage also received their fair amount of praise during the evening. They each received Gotham’s Performer Tribute. Stewart’s statue was presented to her by Julianne Moore (who reminded the crowd that she’s known Stewart since she was 12 years old) and Dinklage received his from an extremely animated Ethan Hawke (who called Dinklage a “national treasure.”)
Jane Campion also accepted the Director’s Tribute from Mark Ruffalo and Jeymes Samuel presented the cast of his film The Harder They Fall with Gotham’s ensemble tribute. The late Kathleen Collins received the Icon Tribute which was accepted by her daughter Nina Collins, and Eamonn Bowles’ Industry Tribute was presented to him by Alex Gibney.
South Korean mega-hit Squid Game also took home its first award of the season for Breakthrough Series–Long Format (over 40 minutes). The series’ breakout stars Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Jung-jae were both in attendance.

Congratulations to Candy Merrell for her win with “The Lost Daughter”. What a great follow-up to her landmark feminist classic “A Pawn in the Game”. It’s hard to believe that she started off as an independent street prostitute, then a porn star, moved on to directing adult films, and at last finally gaining critical acclaim in the mainstream movie industry.I guess it’s true what they say about New York. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere!
This was an especially good year for the Gotham Awards, as they only lost three guests to the Joker’s laughing gas before Batman arrived. A new personal best for casualties!
I remember the year David Endocrine hosted. What a nightmare.
I don’t know why they insist on having one of the awards be “Clown of the Year.” Every year they give it to someone besides the Joker and then they’re surprised when he shows up to murder everyone as revenge.
Even more baffling is their “Guy Called The Riddler Of The Year Award,” which always goes to city councilman Fred Riddler.

Harley Quinn was snubbed but she and Poison Ivy kicked everyone’s asses at the after party, so it was all good
To sweep means to win all the awards. A movie can’t sweep three categories. A movie didn’t sweep if it lost some awards. I can have a very good showing, but you’re using “sweep” incorrectly.
