It’s Disney+ Day, and that means there’s plenty of big news and updates for Marvel fans. The streaming service gave us a look at plenty of Marvel Studios TV shows to come, from She-Hulk to Ms. Marvel. Here’s a list of the upcoming series set to premiere on the streamer:

X-Men ‘97

Marvel Studios is rebooting the ‘90s classic X-Men: The Animated Series with a new title. According to The Wrap, the series picks up right where the original series ended. It’ll feature many of the original voice actors, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, and more.

The show arrives in 2023.

Moon Knight

It’s always a good thing to get more Oscar Isaac, and he’s finally stepping into the Marvel universe. Isaac plays Marc Spector, a.k.a. Moon Knight. In the comics, he’s left for dead in the desert, but is revived by Egyptian god Khonshu, with a new mission to serve as protector at nighttime. However, he has a dissociative personality disorder that makes him take on different personalities.

In the teaser, Marc says, “I can’t tell the difference between my waking life and dreams.” Another voice says, “the voice, in your head, it devours you,” accompanied with footage of Isaac suited up as Moon Knight in the evening.

The series is set to come in 2022.

She-Hulk

In the She-Hulk teaser, Tatiana Maslany plays Jennifer Walters, a “normal lawyer”…who also has the ability to transform into She-Hulk. But, thankfully, she has her cousin Hulk (Mark Ruffalo once again taking on the “Professor Hulk” from Avengers: Endgame) to guide her through it. He explains, “these transformations are triggered by anger and fear.” So, she breaks the fourth wall and gives us a big warning: “Don’t make me angry. You won’t like me when I’m angry.”

The show arrives in 2022.

Ms. Marvel

In the Ms. Marvel teaser, Iman Vellani brings Marvel comics newcomer Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel to life. Kamala idolizes Captain Marvel, but laments that “it’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world.” It doesn’t seem to stop her from trying to become a superhero, though. She suits up and gets ready to take flight for the first time.

The series comes out summer 2022.

What If…? season 2

Marvel Studios’ animated series returns for a second season. The logline says that “after enlisting the Guardians of the Multiverse to stop Infinity Ultron, The Watcher returns in season 2 of What If…? to meet new heroes and explore more strange new worlds in the MCU’s ever-expanding Multiverse.”

Echo

This live-action series will serve as a Hawkeye spin-off of sorts, starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, who will be introduced in Hawkeye.

Spider-Man: Freshman Year

This upcoming animated series “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”

Marvel Zombies

This animated series “reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge.”

I Am Groot

This will be a series of shorts that follows “Baby Groot’s glory days, growing up, and getting into trouble.”

Ironheart

Not much has been shared about this series, but it’ll feature Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, “a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.”

Hawkeye

Disney+ shared a new trailer for Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. In the new trailer, we get a wider glimpse at how Kate and Clint, a.k.a. Hawkeye, end up working together. “Look, I know this may sound weird, but I’ve trained for this for as long as I can remember. When I put that suit on, I thought ‘This is it, this is the moment that I become what I am supposed to be,’” she explains to Clint over coffee. He tries to warn her it’s not easy being Hawkeye, but he’s roped into becoming her mentor.

The series premieres on November 24, 2021.

Secret Invasion

This is a Captain Marvel prequel series of sorts, with Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, who appeared in the movie. According to the logline, the series “showcases a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.”

Agatha: House Of Harkness

This WandaVision spin-off will focus on fan-favorite villain Agatha, played by Kathryn Hahn.

I am a bit curious how the X-Men series will pick up, considering the original series ended with Xavier being forced to live on Shi’ar for the rest of his days.
Good timing for the revival though, since Lenore Zann (who played Rogue, as well as Aisha Clan Clan on Outlaw Star) just recently finished her run on Canada’s Parliament.
Though they  had BETTER get Chris Potter back. To this day, he is the only one to ever do a good Gambit voice. Heartland is finished and they aren’t making any more Good Witch movies for the time being, so he’s free. IMO, he’s just as important to the show as Cal Dodd and George Buza and Zann are.

    • shotmyheartandiwishiwasntok-av says:

In other non-X-Men thoughts, I do hope the Ms. Marvel show explains why Kamala actually idolizes Captain Marvel when she has only been on Earth AS Captain Marvel for about a week.

      • thegobhoblin-av says:

She’s a big fan of the movies.

      • worsehorse-av says:

We don’t know exactly what Carol’s public profile was like during the “Five Years Later” gap, but given that she’s attending the Avengers’ conference call in ENDGAME and making a point of telling them she’ll be out of range for a while, the implication is that (a) she’s been working with them regularly and (b) she’s been IN range of/on Earth, at least to some extent, during that time. So it’s not a stretch she could make an impression. . .

        • sarcastro7-av says:

We saw how much public hay the U.S. Military made with a super-soldier; imagine what they would have done with a female fighter pilot who turned into a legit superhuman.  I’ll bet they plastered her image everywhere.

      • xenikos-av says:

Her Instagram stories are big hits

      • briliantmisstake-av says:

I’m mostly wondering how they are going to show her powers.

        • shotmyheartandiwishiwasntok-av says:

There was a leaked promo poster a few weeks ago that show her enlarged limbs will be energy-based, rather than squashing and stretching her actual skin.

          • briliantmisstake-av says:

So, something like a giant ghost limb coming out? I can see why that would work better for them CGI-wise.

    • suckadick59595-av says:

I really hope they get as many of the og voice actors as they can. Like you, I have my nostalgia for the show while also recognizing that a lot of it doesn’t hold up. And while the voice ACTING can be wildly overwrought, Claremont word balloons brought to life, so many of the voices were absolutely spot-on.

    • dresstokilt-av says:

I vote for James Carville to voice Gambit.

    • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

it’s funny because, as much as the animation was criticized at the time for being cheap, i worry that current animation techniques will actually look worse and cheaper.

      • shotmyheartandiwishiwasntok-av says:

I really, really hope it’s not in the same style as the recent Spider-Man and Avengers cartoons. Ultimate Spider-Man I wouldn’t mind.

    • kbroxmysox2-av says:

The X-Men have lived without Xavier for quite a bit on the comics. He really just returned full time recently.

      • shotmyheartandiwishiwasntok-av says:

Yes, but this is going to be aimed at general audiences in order to rebuild hype for the team for their eventual movie reboot. You’re not going to have a brand new series, even as a revival, for the X-Men without Xavier.

  • tyenglishmn-av says:

Loving everything about She Hulk except for that ridiculous Night Court-esque logo

    • harpo87-av says:

I love the logo personally. It’s very 90s in a way that I think cues up the exact kind of fun absurdity that the comics can produce at their best.

      • haodraws-av says:

The logo’s firmly tongue in cheek and I love it. That end shot of Jen and Bruce in like 80s-90s clothes was golden. Ruffalo looks great.

        • sui_generis-av says:

shot of Jen and Bruce in like 80s-90s clothes Late-70s, early-80s — it was a direct parody of a scene from the TV show “Incredible Hulk” from that time period

          • haodraws-av says:

Thank you! I knew it was a reference to the Bixby show, but I didn’t know the time period lol

    • matteldritch-av says:

IDK, I was hoping for a real buff woman to be her She-Hulk form, she doesn’t look very buff from the teaser trailer.

  • disqusdrew-av says:

If you see a man running down the streets shouting and pumping his fists, do not be alarmed. That’s just me after reading the X-Men news. Feel free to pull over for a high five and a hug

  • theonewatcher-av says:

That Ms. marvel costume is horrific.

  • amaltheaelanor-av says:

X-Men ‘97Hell. Yeah. Only been wanting more of this since forever, and now I already can’t wait.

  • curmudgahideen-av says:

Jesus, what a firehose. Next thing they’ll just be adapting those old Twinkies ads.

  • harpo87-av says:

The audience: “well, thank goodness they didn’t do the Spider-Man origin story again. We’ve seen it done to death, and it’s refreshing to have a fully-formed Spidey whose stories aren’t largely about reflecting on his backstory.”Disney, walking into the room carrying a box with a bow: “okay, whoooo wants a Spider-Man prequel!?”

  • anthonypirtle-av says:

I hope the X-men cartoon reboot uses the Japanese theme.

    • amaltheaelanor-av says:

      Blasphemy!

    • taumpytearrs-av says:

While I will be happy if the show looks like the old cartoon but with better animation (seriously, my nostalgia can’t carry me through the old show because of the animation quality), it would be REALLY amazing if they did the whole thing in the style of the Japanese intro/outros. The opening sequence of the American version already looks better than the show (like most cartoon openings did back then), but the Japanese ones looked even better than that. For those who never saw:

      • nilus-av says:

That intro was writing check the show just could not cash

      • rogersachingticker-av says:

Now…I will cry for the moon.

      • xirathi-av says:

The animation quality dropped even further as the show went on. The final season looked like total ass.

        • taumpytearrs-av says:

Yup. I had stopped watching by then as a kid, but watched a few last season eps a while back and they obviously changed studios or slashed budgets. The early X-Men seasons never looked anywhere near as good as their contemporary cartoon Batman: the Animated Series, but you could at least see them TRYING to capture the look of the comics and have some detail/shading/etc., but by the last season it looked like a shitty 80s cartoon.

  • wrecksracer-av says:

Marvel Zombies……more of what was lame 10 years ago. I know…I know…how about “Marvel Apes?!?!?!….these chumps will buy anything!”

  • imodok-av says:

“it’s not really the brown girls from Jersey City who save the world.”
Someone hasn’t studied enough Beyoncé.I’m very excited to see Tatiana Maslany and Oscar Isaac in the MCU. Also glad to see Marvel mining the old X-men show and other nostalgia plays for older comic fans. But even as a diehard fan, the MCU’s offering is starting to feel similar to a point where it might become deleterious to the overall health of the brand. Disney + doubly so. Obviously, the predictability of Disney has been a key to its success, but anecdotally I find myself drawn to the more eclectic offerings of Netflix, HBOMAX etc.

    • jhelterskelter-av says:

Someone hasn’t studied enough Beyoncé.You mean the singer from Houston?(Even after googling I don’t get this reference. Is it about “Run the World”?)

      • imodok-av says:

Shit, is that lyric (who run the world:girls!) obscure already? I old.

        • jhelterskelter-av says:

Like I mentioned, I know the lyric, but running the world versus saving the world and the specificity of Kamala being a brown girl in Jersey had me overthinking it.

    • theotherglorbgorb-av says:

Love both Maslany and Isaac. I have never read Moon Knight, but he has me generally interested in learning more. She-Hulk not as much. Isn’t she just a lawyer who happens to be Hulk-like? (Or maybe a Hulk-like person who just happens to be a lawyer?) I can’t help but think that if Ruffalo isn’t in it a lot, this one will fall flat.

    • xirathi-av says:

They’re diluting the brand with these shit-tier spinoffs of spinoffs. “Echo”, Zombies, “Agatha”, etc.

      • imodok-av says:

Shit-tier characters can be fun — Blade and Rocket Racoon used to be shit-tier, for example— and spin offs are a long established tradition of breaking out characters in movies, tv and comics. That said there are a lot of higher tier characters and sub-genres (like horror) I’d like to see before these characters plucked from existing shows. But the main problem for me is a sense of sameness in the formula of these spin offs. This may be premature because these spin offs don’t exist yet, but it based in the fact that Marvel has a clearly defined formula.

  • laserface1242-av says:

I would like to inform everyone that within the first ten issues of John Byrne’s She-Hulk run, Jennifer ended up in space, met two different trucker-themed superheroes (One boar-themed and another with a Space Truck), and fought Xemnu the Living Hulk.

  • nilus-av says:

The fact that the girl they cast as Kamala Khan looks like my niece makes me smile so big.

If they don’t bring back Alison Sealy-Smith for X-Men 97, I will riot! I never cared about X-Men and only watched the cartoon for her performance as Storm.

Disney bringing out the Content Shotgun, which they got to do if they want Netflix-level consistent revenue.

  • theeviltwin189-av says:

This upcoming animated series “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”LMFAO.This is the take that practically every Spider-Man show has taken. He always is depicted as a student struggling to balance his school, love live and superhero career. I will never understand why Marvel will not let Peter grow up, especially since a Spider-Man in his 20’s (or hell, in his 30’s with a wife and daughter) are much more interesting stories now instead of another rehash of his early years.

    • liebkartoffel-av says:

      • vulpeshilarianus-av says:

Fuck One More Day. That said, also fuck Sins Past for squandering the potential of Peter having kids.

We’ve seen the Fantastic Four go from being in their late 20s to now being in their early 40s with two kids. Hulk’s had two kids, which he shared with Banner, and Banner had his own kid which they just retconned for no reason. Even Deadpool has a daughter with an ancient mummy of all things.

Even if you have to pull an Ultimate style alternate universe, let Peter and Mary Jane have kids. People have been asking for literal decades now.

    • kbroxmysox2-av says:

Marvel would rather Peter make a deal with the devil then do that.

    • dr-darke-av says:

I smell Joe Quesadilla’s involvement — he’s been determined to infantilize Peter Parker for the last twenty years! I suspect he wants to relive his own arrested adolescence through Peter….

    • pontiacssv-av says:

      Not all.

    • robertlouislloyd-av says:

Unless Marvel actually sets out to do an “after dark” Spidey show aimed specifically at adults, the primary audience for an animated Spider-Man show is likely to be kids, and kids’ shows often present their leads as just a little older than the target audience. Kind of an aspirational thing.

  • snagglepluss-av says:

Look, I am just a gamma radiated person with an anger problem. I get mad and think, “I need to smash that thing over there”. I see people and wonder, “how are these people so puny?” I don’t know much. But what I do know is when my client slips in a convenience store as a result of the Blip causing negligent janitorial operations as a result of understaffing, my client is entitled to no less than $3.1 million from the franchisee, the corporate parent and possibly, Thanos.

Armour Wars with Don Cheadle apparently died on it’s way home to it’s home planet.

  • weedlord420-av says:

They didn’t show any of it but I’m very disappointed that apparently they’re just gonna give Ms. Marvel big energy fists instead of giving her her actual powers.

  • haodraws-av says:

Since this is still a D+ article, and I’ve finally watched Shang-Chi on D+, I just wanna say I loved that movie. I was skeptical because I was never a fan of how Marvel’s premier Eastern-Asian character was a martial artist, and how stereotypical his whole design was. But the movie is a love letter to Chinese/HK action cinema. It’s fantastic. Lots of symbolism, lots of Mandarin(half of the movie is in Mandarin!), beautiful imagery(even though the CGI went overdrive by the third act). My Ma and I teared up watching it.

    • comicnerd2-av says:

I loved Shang Chi, one thing that struck me though was that the structure of the script was very similar to Captain Marvel, with flashbacks intermittently sprinkled through the movie. Shang Chi did a much better job of having the flashbacks connect to the story , while I felt like Captain Marvel would have been better in chronological order, Shang Chi worked just as it was. The biggest suprise to me was Awkafina’s role, I expected her to be more annoying and in your face, but I thought her’s and Simon Lu’s chemistry was fantastic.

      • haodraws-av says:

*Simu Liu. And yeah, I really appreciated how they really toned down the jokes by the second half of the movie. In the first half, not all of Awkwafina’s jokes landed for me, but she was more serious once they’ve got to Ta Lo.

      • robertlouislloyd-av says:

Yeah – I also thought that “Captain Marvel” was the closest match from the MCU movies so far – the whole “character discovers the true extent of their power” thing was a very similar arc.

    • haodraws-av says:

As a side note, I always find it funny that there’s this one asshole in AVC that’s always on my ass whenever I criticize MCU’s toxic fandom, but never replies to any of my post praising MCU movies—which I’ve done for years now in all MCU review threads that I’ve watched up until the pandemic hit.

    • jonathanmichaels--disqus-av says:

My favorite part of Shang Chi is how, once Katie is involved, nobody even bothers to try and tell her she needs to go off to safety of whatever, she’s just part of this now.Even at the end, it’s just assumed that she’s coming with.Because with everything that has happened, anyone who is remotely capable should be allowed to help. if someone wants to be a hero, just let them.

    • reglidan-av says:

I was not a fan of Awkwafina.  I thought the rest of the movie was pretty good, though they could have cut out Trevor Slattery altogether and not lost anything.

  • bobfunch1-on-kinja-av says:

They’re not just killing the golden goose, they’re tossing the poor thing in a wood chipper.

    • fever-dog-av says:

Yeah this is probably where me and the MCU part ways.  Which is kinda funny because this is exactly what happened with me and Marvel Comics right around Secret Wars 2.  I’m too lazy, disorganized and broke to keep track of all the tie-ins in other books let alone pay for them.   We’ll see but I’m not happy about the shotgun approach.

  • andrewbare29-av says:

I thought Maslany said the She-Hulk thing wasn’t happening? Did an actor lie to me?!

    • akabrownbear-av says:

Actors are likely under NDAs where they are put between a rock and a hard place when they’re asked questions about roles they’ve booked that they can’t talk about.

Now put on the Stupid Helmet and get in there, kid!

  • comicnerd2-av says:

I’m glad we are getting a continuation of the X-men series, I am a little skeptical about bringing back the voice actors though. It’s been 30 years since the show, voices age. I would rather they recast where needed. I hope they stick with a similar style animation but better. X-MEN:TAS’s animation was wildly all over the place. I think we new technology it should be easier to have better backgrounds and animate the complicated character designs then it was in 92.

  • jamiemm-av says:

Sure, Moon Knight will be in a suit, but will it be the right suit:

  • scottsummers76-av says:

yeah, in the show, kamala’s captain marvel fan/hero worship wouldnt make sense. In the comics, Captain Marvel has been around forever and done a ton of shit. In the movies, she did one thing in the 90s, dissapeared until avengers endgame, then had one big battle in that. I dont even know if the public is AWARE of her existence in the MCU.

        • sui_generis-av says:

Okay, maybe I’m thinking of the “savage” version they sometimes do. Fair point.
Still, that doesn’t look 6’8″, either.

  • sui_generis-av says:

Wait, so Secret Invasion is going to be just its own little self-contained show, and a “prequel” to Captain Marvel? Coming before all the current-continuity stuff we’ve already seen? That will definitely kill all the suspense and intrigue called for in a story like its based on. How are they gonna build up any of the “who’s a Skrull and who isn’t?” action if it’s all set in the past…?

While this toy is too petite for the gray She-Hulk it’s supposed to represent, it’s a solid baseline build for regular lime Shulkie.
Changing Ms. Marvel’s powers is infuriating.
