The big banner series arriving to Amazon Prime Video in November is fantasy series The Wheel Of Time, premiering on November 19. Based on Robert Jordan’s bestselling novels, The Wheel Of Time is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it. The story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers.
There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

Other Amazon originals arriving to Prime Video in November 2021 include the animated children series Pete The Cat, and the first season of Tampa Baes, a reality series which follows a group of lesbian women in the Florida city.

A couple of Wes Anderson flicks (Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. Fox) are arriving to the streamer in November, just in time for a proper rewatch of the director’s filmography after seeing The French Dispatch.

Jonesing so hard for The Expanse, I’ve started a rewatch.

Tampa Baes – Amazon Original Series: Season 1The only thing I know about this show beyond the title is that there is no amount of money that would make me watch it.

  • chriska-av says:

ugh, only Dan in Real Life 1?

  • hiemoth-av says:

Claiming that Wheel of Time follows Moiraine is kind of wild.

    • hendenburg3-av says:

She’s definitely been the focus of the marketing and promotions, probably because Rosamund Pike is the biggest name attached to the show.

Edited to add: If you look at the IMDB credits and compare them to the WoT wiki, they cast the role of Karene Nagashi, who died in New Spring, which takes place almost 20 years before the start of the “first” book, The Eye of the World. They also cast several other characters who show up in New Spring who don’t (chronologically) return until at least the second book, The Great Hunt. So it’s certainly plausible that some parts of New Spring will be in Season 1

I’m under the impression that the first season at least is going to be pretty Moiraine-centric. I’m pretty fine with that since she’s basically the only person who knows what’s going on at all.

    • phizzled-av says:

Twitter of Time, as it styles itself, is convinced we’ll be seeing a blend of books 0-2 in season 1. Moraine is very much expected to be the focus, at present.

The problem with these lists is I think Amazon only advertises the films it thinks will get attention or are part of big deals- like even the more obscure films on this list were wide releases. Whereas the really fun stuff to find on Prime is all the crazy bargain-basement shit they get from making deals with third-party distributors and sure, the picture and sound quality is often extremely variable and you can’t even be sure you’ll be getting the right cut in the right aspect ratio, but sometimes a gem emerges.

Exactly right. I couldn’t care less about whatever mainstream films from the last 40 years have migrated from Netflix to Hulu to Prime. I want to know about the culty horror and sci-fi from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

      • ryan-buck-av says:

Same here. Yesterday I was looking at one of those newsletters showing what’s currently on Prime and flipped when I saw that Blacula listed. I’m not used to seeing cult movies advertised in those emails.

  • CaptainJanewaysCat-av says:

That 2011 version of Jane Eyre is really really good and the director Cary Fukunaga ended up directing… No Time to Die which is why I’m looking forward to it.

  • lattethunder-av says:

Pretty sloppy to leave “What is arriving on Hulu” in there.

  • bembrob-av says:

How did Amazon snag Courage the Cowardly Dog and not HBO Max and why?

  • hapaboi-av says:

I highly recommend the TV series Rectify. Great writing and an awesome ensemble.
The story focuses on a man released from death row who has to learn how to live his life outside of prison. While the show has a mystery element to it as we discover who was truly guilty of the crime our protagonist was accused of, the best moments are those that focus on the interesting characters and their complicated relationships with each other.Definitely for those who like slow burn storytelling.

  • jbbb3-av says:

I swear the Alien movies move to a different streaming service every month.
