It’s safe to say that A Quiet Place wouldn’t work without the excellent sound design from supervising sound editors, Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn. The two have been working together for over a decade, sharing a pair of Oscar nominations for their sound editing work on Argo and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and if things go their way, they’ll snag another nomination for their work on John Krasinski’s survival horror this Tuesday. We recently sat down with the sound editing duo to find out how they crafted the sounds of A Quiet Place.

A Quiet Place was a mediocre movie. Definitely not worth the hype surrounding it.

Those are substantive criticisms. Definitely worth the time it took you to type.

I haven’t gotten to BB yet – is it that bad? A Quiet Place was just ok -It would’ve been more enjoyable if I wasn’t expecting so much from the damn thing.

Prepare to be VERY underwhelmed. The lead actress tries her best to sell the story (what little there is) but falls shorting selling the one sentence plot. It’s a film that seems an exercise in minimalist location filming, however seeing it’s budget throws that away. Instead the director seemed to do its best to make it feel like a high school movie project and no idea why.
Anyone with an ounce of the ability to look into actions can predict this trainwreck as it happens step by step.

How did they plan to keep that baby alive? Babies make so much noise and they’re going to go crazy living in a dark box.
