The premiere of Rick And Morty’s sixth season is approaching surprisingly quickly, with new episodes beginning on Adult Swim on September 4, and now we have an action-packed, Black Sabbath-backed, and movie reference-filled trailer to make that wait even easier. This trailer checks off basically all of the Rick And Morty hits, with the Roy: A Life Well Lived arcade game, Space Beth, and Rick ditching a whole universe as an escape plan. Also Jerry gets used as a human shield (but Rick is open about it, so that’s…. good?), everybody’s whipping out hidden weapons, and Summer (begrudgingly) puts together what seems like a pretty faithful recreation of Die Hard—despite having never seen it and being unhappy with Rick’s insistence that she “do a Die Hard.”

Series co-creator Justin Roiland said at San Diego Comic-Con that season 6 will be “fucking amazing” and a “fucking quality season,” after he had some misgivings about season 5 due to the death of line producer J. Michael Mendel. Also, whatever “Wormageddon” is, it’s still over a week away, since this new trailer isn’t that. We don’t know what that is, but since “a new trailer” seemed like an obvious thing, we’re even more in the dark about it than we were when it was first teased a few days ago. Maybe it’s some kind of worm-based armageddon? It’s definitely some kind of deep-Rick And Morty canon tie-in, but again, that could be anything.

We’ll know more about that in approximately seven days, and we’ll know more about season 6 when it premieres on Adult Swim on September 4. (Unless it happens earlier, which they’ve done before, and unless this “Wormageddon” wipes out all life in the Rick And Morty multiverse and the new season gets canceled.)

On a related note, I was recently on hand to help a millennial friend enjoy Die Hard. Easily one of my favourite movie memories, and she gave it the thumbs up!

I may be biased as a “geriatric millennial,” but since Die Hard was released in 88 (and two of sequels released by 1995), and Millennials were born 81 – 96, I feel like it’s really more of a “Gen Z doesn’t know Die Hard” issue. And if Summer is a teen still, she’s solidly Gen Z.

Millennial born in 92 checking in. I love all the Die Hard movies. The first one is by far my favorite Christmas movie too.

Has Rick & Morty been around so long she’s changed generations?

        • rogueindy-av says:

Teenagers haven’t been millenials in a looong time

        • pinkkittie27-av says:

If Summer was 17 in 2013, that puts her at the edge of being a Millennial, born in 1996. But I believe she says she’s 16 in the first season, so that means she was always Gen Z.

      • drkschtz-av says:

Yeah it definitely counts as a Millennial movie because it was a popular rewatch movie (forever) but particularly in the later 90s and early 00s.

This is exactly it- this was one of those movies ALWAYS on some basic cable channel around the holidays. Legendary for how they’d sub in “yippee kay yay, melon-farmer” or something similarly absurd.

Yes, I remember seeing Diehard in the summer of ‘88 and the theater was just packed with 7-2 year olds.

This is gonna be the first season that I’m not planning to watch. If it is as good as they claim maybe I’ll retroactively check it out but last year Rick And Morty used it’s final chances with me. I just can’t with how intensely the quality of this show took a nosedive after it became too popular.

It’s dick and fart jokes now. A shadow of later years Simpsons.

You see, you need a really high IQ…(just kidding).

I’m not quite as down on it as you are and there are still one liners that I love (talking about Spider FDR “We asked ourselves, what walks most?”), but yeah….a lot of episodes left me cold. IDK if that’s the show’s “fault” or if it is just familiarity breeding contempt with me.

To me, the last two seasons (maybe three?) have been really bad on the front half, and then good enough on the second half to keep me watching.I dunno that I will go out of my way to watch the new ones, but I spend enough time just noodling on the computer in my bedroom with something on the tv as background noise that I’m sure I’ll catch them.

It’s dick and fart jokes now. A shadow of later years Simpsons.I don’t remember any of this on the Simpsons. I feel like you’re just assuming

    • tvcr-av says:

Bro, please check it out. They have Space Beth, bro. Jerry’s dressed as Morty, bro. It looks like they’re going back to Blips and Chits, bro. Bro, just please watch it.

I keep right clicking the star, but the number won’t go down!

I just caught up on the last two seasons – I thought season 4 was pretty great, season 5 seemed pretty uneven.

    • gohan7-av says:

It was always filled with dick and fart jokes, let’s not pretend that season 1 did not have some weird plotlines that kinda dragged with rape/dick/shit jokes. I’m a big fan of Rick and Morty and I think that season 4 and 5 are worse than what preceded them but season 1 was not always particularly spectacular as people claim it to be. Seasons 2 and 3 are in my opinion the most creative and clever ones.

  • bigbydub-av says:

If I wasn’t already a fan of the show I don’t think this would entice me to watch.

    • rogueindy-av says:

Honestly all their trailers have been like that for me. Feels like they’re made more to dial up hype for returning viewers than to try and sell the show. This one doesn’t even look like it’s setting up a meta gag the way some previous trailers did.

    • splufay-av says:

In all fairness, if you haven’t tuned into a single episode of Rick and Morty at this point, you likely never will

  • beertown-av says:

Eh, Season 5 had some good ones. I liked the snake one, for example, and thought they brought the whole Evil Morty thing to as reasonable of a close as one could.

  • soapdiggy-av says:

    TKTK arcade game! My favorite!

  • noisetanknick-av says:

Glad to know that, between this and Solar Opposites, Andy Daly has a steady gig as “Concerned if Slightly Confused Neighbor.”

  • shoch1-av says:

So, no season 6 recaps from av club?

    • shoch1-av says:

Also…can someone please explain to me why my comments still, to this day, sit as ‘pending’? I’ve been adding value via my insightful, sometimes amusing (imo) comments on av club reviews & recaps for ages & STILL they remain hidden. I’m that one person on the edge of a group who tries to join in to conversations but always gets ignored. You’re breaking my heart here!
