Hulu’s reboot of Animaniacs has been in the works for years now, and we got our first preview image of the Warner brothers and their Warner sister back in August when the streamer released a teaser image of the trio of animated maniacs (plus Pinky and The Brain). Now, though, thanks to the show’s virtual New York Comic Con panel, we have our first proper teaser clip of the series—and it’s extremely Animaniacs. Old pop culture references? Check. Meta humor? Check. All that’s missing is an extended Orson Welles impression, but Hulu is surely saving that for the first new clip of The Brain.
The clip is a parody of Jurassic Park, which is pretty obvious, with series producer Steven Spielberg playing the John Hammond-role as he introduces the horrific abominations of science that he and Hulu have foolishly created… though this is clearly referencing the “wow, dinosaurs are cool” moment in Jurassic Park and not the “we sure fucked up” stuff that happens after that. It’s all nice and silly, which is the best we could’ve hoped for with some new Animaniacs content, and it bodes nicely for the full series. It’ll premiere on Hulu on November 20, with a second season coming in 2021. The clips stars at 18:40 in the below video.

Between this and the new Looney Tunes on HBO Max, I expect an increase in sales of anvils and dynamite.
Buy Acme!
alright kiddos, get ready to not understand references to Rudolph Valentino and the Algonquin Round Table
You mean how ol’ Rudy could accept the entire Table in his tuchis?
Yes Sirree!
I wonder if I’ll be able to enjoy without the copious amounts of marijuana I smoked in my 20s when I watched it regularly.
Short answer: No.
Depends on where you live
Newark?
There’d better be a joke about molesting Prince, or I’m out.
It’ll be a weird WAP joke.
Will they be the janitors holding a mop and a bucket or maybe making macaroni in a pot.
YAKKO: This is some…
DOT: Yakko!
YAKKO: What? I was going to say ‘Wonderful Aldente Pasta’.
DOT: Oh. Nevermind.
Making macaroni in a mop bucket?
I’d be inclined to agree if that joke wasn’t so ham-fisted into that short (which you wouldn’t be able to gather from just looking at stills).
So is Wacko a “Contract with America”-era Republican who agrees with the flyer that America has lost his way? Or does he think America has lost its way because something like the Republican party flyer could be printed? I’m confused!
“What are we doing tonight?”“The same thing we do every night, Pinky: Try to get our kids in to a good school!”“Narf!” ~ Middle-Aged Pinky and the Brain
“I thought we ate all our children Brain?”
BRAIN: That wasn’t a child, Pinky. That was a Marshmallow Peep you’d somehow mistaken for your own son.
PINKY: Oh, right. I miss you, Peepy…
BRAIN: Ugh.
The animation doesn’t have that annoying “high budget Flash cartoon” look a lot of modern cartoons use, which is great. That being said, having no Slappy Squirrel or Hello Nurse is a big bummer.
Also hope that the new CEO character actually gets to participate in the slapstick.
I felt the outlines of the human characters were a bit too thin and “flash”-like. But the brothers and sister looked on point.
I felt that as well, though it’s possible that as a promo they might’ve taken a lighter touch on the animation with this to get it out in a timely fashion. Especially if said human characters are one-offs for the trailer and they’re not going to do a version of this bit in the show itself (which I’m assuming for the moment).
The Comic-Con panel said this was the cold open for the first episode.
Ah, okay. I didn’t watch the whole panel, just the trailer.
I think the humans in this one are all supposed to be someone real, so they have that caricatured look. I’m guessing the recurring characters will look good and cartoony.
Why am I crying? Seriously, what has this year done to me?! I need to start taking vitamins.
I laughed at the Pinky and the Brain part. (19:50). That was good
I remember animaniacs! It was like the Simpsons for stupid little babies
The animators did a nice job with the Laura Dern character having more or less the same expressions.
This animation looks like shit. What a shame, man.
this almost would make me consider getting a sub to hulu if they really do justice to the entire show and its characters.
I found out my Verizon cell phone plan comes with a Hulu and Disney+ free subscription. Saved me the hassle of buying them.
I’m on board, that looks rad
The Warner Brothers and Dot were my least favorite characters from that show. I preferred The Goodfeathers and Pinky and the Brain.
