Just when we’d all forgotten about Four Seasons Total Landscaping, Fiverr’s Super Bowl ad featured the infamous Philly location where Rudy Giuliani held what’s perhaps the most bizarre press conference in American history. But turns out that viral Fiverr ad was just the beginning of our culture’s revisitation of that cursed landscaping company. There’s now a documentary coming out on it, appropriately titled Four Seasons Total Documentary.

The doc is made by Emmy-nominated director Christopher Stoudt and producers Glen Zipper and Sean Stuart. According to its press release, the doc will “give a firsthand account of the rollercoaster journey that one well-meaning small business in Philadelphia went through when they agreed to host a political press conference in the midst of the mot hard-fought American election in recent history.”

If you’ve ever wondered why Giuliani went with a random landscaping company in close proximity from a sex shop and a crematorium instead of the actual Four Seasons Hotel, you’ll now get to find out how it all went down.

Here’s what Stoudt had to say about why he decided to make the film:

“It’s an honor and privilege to be able to help tell a story that the world has been waiting months to hear. After such a hard year, everyone needed a moment to laugh. Little did we know it would come from a press conference that took place across the street from a crematorium (down the road from a sex shop). This film is a chance to wipe the slate clean, not just for Four Seasons Total Landscaping, but for the entire country.”

Turns out Four Seasons Total Landscaping is the true winner of the 2020 election.

When this comes out in theaters, I’ll either see it at AMC Carpet Wholesalers or Arclight Metal and Welding Supply.

I prefer watching at my local Regal Auto Dealership.

Hopefully without a terrible student-made ad for Regal introduced by the director of Booksmart, Oliva Wilde.I used to hate those and used to purposely close my eyes (take that, Quorra!) during them, but the pandemic is even making me nostalgic for them.

Between this and the multiple GameStop documentaries, I feel like documentarians are just getting desperate to latch onto something big on the internet. I blame the massive success of the Fyre Fest documentaries.
Like here, I’ll do a documentary in text form right now: A dumb person messed up a tweet and didn’t reserve a location at the Four Seasons Hotel for a press conference, the press conference happened, a bunch of people changed their Twitter handles to include Total Landscaping because it’s totally funny guys see I did the thing do you get it?, some assholes went and produced fake merch from the company on Etsy and profited while the actual company didn’t, by 2 weeks later they were cutting lawns again and no one gave a shit. Did I about nail it?

Yeah, I’d watch a five minute youtube clip about it, but I don’t think there’s 85 minutes of content.

Broadcast quality cameras and sound equipment are astonishingly cheap to buy and rent now, you can edit a 4k feature on a mac mini… So yeah there’s not really a barrier of entry to making a documentary any more and since Netflix etc started buying them there’s been something of a gold rush to knock out something that will sell for $500k and get a budding filmmaker some quick acclaim and in the door for a sweet reality show production job. This isn’t really new but it’s more so than ever, I think, so any odd story that warrants a headline is probably going to get a crew of recent film school graduates chasing it down.

At least with GameStop there’s a lot of potentially interesting angles to go down (the history of short-selling, Reddit culture generally, broader questions in financial regulation, ideological links to the Occupy movement, etc.). This story, on the other hand, is pretty much a one-liner.

It’s a slice-of-life story about a hardworking Philadelphia business owner who was thrust into the national spotlight by the dumbest government officials in American history (a well-defended title). I’ll watch it.

I thought the “real story” really boring? That they really did get a call cuz they wanted a trump-friendly Philly-area location and if you’re not in deep South Philly (previously, Columbus Statue territory) you gotta go to the Northeast which is where FSTL is.

Are you sure this isn’t just going to be an episode of “Documentary Now!”?

  • wuthanytangclano-av says:

I think we can just leave it with that Superbowl commercial dunking on this situation.

  • chubbyballerina-av says:

Does anyone really want this right now? It was a stupid moment in a stupid presidency that deserves disgrace. Can we just wait a few years before we relive it?

    • ventogt3-av says:

Incredible avatar.  I have been using this in my fantasy football league for I think 10 years.  Cheers

    • magnustyrant-av says:

So you’re not interested in my 90-minute documentary on the guy who made Rudy Giuliani’s shoes then.

    • lasttimearound-av says:

Did anyone want any truly great documentaries before they came out? Or movies for that matter? Was there a huge clamor for Star Wars in 1975?I’m not saying this doc will be incredible (surprise: it won’t be) but “nobody is asking for it” isn’t something I give a shit about when wondering if an upcoming film will be worth watching.

  • presidentzod-av says:

As a Philly guy, I actually know EXACTLY where that place is. It is a complete shit hole neighborhood, very depressed. There is not much to see around there at all.

  • docprof-av says:

They agreed to host it because they are morons and Trump supporters. (Oh wow those two things go together a lot!) The end.

  • humptydance-av says:

Isn’t all of Philly “down the road from a sex shop”?

  • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

this would actually be better as a fictional film.

  • bio-wd-av says:

Man the pandemic has really staved documentarians of good ideas.  Or they were already taken.  Either or.

  • greatgodglycon-av says:

No, this is the most bizarre press conference:

  • sonytv1-av says:

    thanks
