In managing director Mary Walsh’s words, the Disney Animation Research Library is a massive repository “for all the original artwork that was created for both the short and feature length [Disney] animated films, from the 1920s stuff at the very beginning up until present day.” The ARL has long been a resource from which generations of Disney animators could pull inspiration. We sat down with Walsh to talk about the history of the ARL, and what makes it unique.

    Ah, the good old days. Before Disney took a horribly derisive attitude towards the traditional animation that is their heritage.

      Well, since Disney has always recycled whole sections of animation in their movies, it’s just continuing the tradition.
