If you ignore Freaky, the Freaky Friday horror-comedy starring Vince Vaughn, it’s been a while since we’ve had a Friday that one could describe as “Freaky.” If you don’t ignore that, it’s only been two years. Nevertheless, what people actually want is not just a body swap, but rather for Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan to body swap. Finally, Freaky fans might get their wish.

According to Jamie Lee Curtis, “the right people are talking” about that very thing. After teasing another collaboration with Lohan earlier this week, Curtis took to the red carpet for Glass Onion to report that Disney is, in fact, “interested” in another Freaky Friday, presumably called “Freakier Friday.”

“There is no scheduled date, but we’re talking,” Curtis told Variety. “People are talking. The right people are talking.”

Considering the amount of money Disney’s spent on legacy sequels this year, it wouldn’t be outside the bounds of possibility. Hocus Pocus 2 is already “the biggest opening for a streaming movie ever recorded” in Nielsen history, which should come as a surprise to all those Gray Man fans out there. Should Disenchanted, coming later this month, prove a similarly wise investment, it would make a Freaky Friday 2 all the more enticing for Disney.

“I’m 64 in a week, and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully,” Curtis said. “We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make and I think they’re interested and we’re talking.”

When pressed as to whether they would make more Freaky Fridays after that, establishing a Freaky Cinematic Universe that would encompass Freaky, Vice Versa, Like Father Like Son, and, of course, The Hot Chick, Curtis was a little less enthused. She insisted that they “try to get another one made.” Fair enough.

cuuute. there is something quite nice seeing a very healthy and sober Lohan, who I’m sure has seen/felt/been targeted with some truly deep levels of darkness, suddenly reemerge to now be in the most wholesome ass holiday movie and maybe this.*or whatever sober means to her, idk if that’s abstinence or just cutting out booze and cocaine, but whatever it is, it’s working.

They have great chemistry together, I’d love to see it and Lindsay back with Disney would feel like quite the full circle moment!

I’d actually be very interested in the film the wrong people would make now!

Look, Jamie Lee Curtis read my spec script that mashes up Freaky Friday with The Hidden and Elephant, and she considered it the work of “a person who really needs help.”

Don’t feel too bad, nobody wanted to produce my body switching movie either. It was about a teenage girl on her schools softball team who magically switched bodies with Hitler circa 1943. So Hitler has to learn how to play softball in time to win the big game, while navigating a modern american high school as a teenage girl. And the girl has to oversee the systematic murder of over 12 million people. It was called Switch Hitler. I even had ideas for the sequel Designated Hitler.

There are days when I wonder why I read this website, since it no longer keeps me apprised of new movies, and very few of the articles align with my interest. But then along comes something like Switch Hitler, and it pulls me back in.

What’s the sequel? Scary Saturday? Twisted Tuesday? Weird Wednesday? Fucked-Up Friday?

  • cosmicghostrider-av says:

… would it just be them switching bodies again tho? Cool and all but like the originals such a classic we’re really just going to make this into an IP thing? Come on.

This is a sequel I’d actually like to see.  Lohan is a great actress who just went down the wrong path and it’s taken her a long time to find her way back.  I’m rooting for the kid.

Considering how insanely bad Halloween Ends was, I don’t trust Jamie Lee Curtis’s casting choices.

  • qj201-av says:

Freakier Friday: Lohan’s character has a 12 year old. Grandma (Curtis), daughter (Lohan) and granddaughter all rotate changing bodies throughout the movie. The granddaughter switches bodies with Lohan before switching again with Curtis. Hijinks ensue for a solid 80 minutes.

  • kinjacaffeinespider-av says:

Nonsense! Just reboot Halloween again! It’s obviously what we all want!

  • kinjacaffeinespider-av says:

Lindsay Lohan looks cute with bangs.
