Jeremy Renner is down for a Hawkeye Netflix series if you are

Aux Features TV

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be expanding to a whopping 68 characters for the upcoming two-part Avengers: Infinity War, but even twice the runtime means a lot of jostling for the spotlight between the heroes, villains, and everyone in between. One key veteran whose screen time might take a hit as a result is Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, who didn’t do all that much in The Avengers before taking on a bigger role in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Although Renner has said before that he’s happy to be part of an ensemble, most of his buddies’ characters have gotten standalone films, and even the Daredevils, Jessica Joneses, and Luke Cages of the world are getting their own series. Eventually you’d think the dude who shoots arrows really well would demand to get his.

Renner has continued to stay pretty diplomatic about things, and considering the rather generous paycheck he brought back to the nest after Ultron, that’s probably smart. However, Comicbook.com reports that if the top brass is into it, the actor would love to star in a Hawkeye-centric TV show. “I think that’s actually a really great model, if there’s ever a way to explore the character, maybe it’s in that world,” Renner said when asked about doing Hawkeye on Netflix during a panel at the Silicon Valley Comic Con.

“These are things that are really not in my control, but I’d be open to it,” he continued. “I’ve really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you’re doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I’d be open to it.” Then, presumably because he realized his aggressive winking of both eyes simultaneously was coming off as normal blinking, he made sure to add, “Not up to me, though.” Oh and also, if there’s some kind of Black Widow/Hawkeye buddy movie on the table, he’d do it “in a second.” But, you know, only if the powers that be like him back.
