When Chris Harrison was booted from hosting the Bachelor franchise, former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe stepped in to co-host Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette and they’ll host Michelle Young’s upcoming season too. Bachelor In Paradise also has been using rotating celebrity guest hosts, including David Spade, Lance Bass, Tituss Burgess, and Lil Jon. Spade in particular became a fan-favorite guest host and even some of the Bachelor In Paradise contestants expressed their excitement at meeting Spade on the show. But sadly, the Joe Dirt star won’t be the permanent replacement for Harrison.

Former Bachelor Jesse Palmer is going to step in to do the job for season 26 of The Bachelor, premiering in 2022.

“For more than 20 years, The Bachelor has brought the world dozens of unforgettable love stories, including at one time, my own,” Palmer says in a statement. “Falling in love is one of life’s greatest gifts, and I am humbled by the opportunity to return to the show as host this season to offer the newest Bachelor advice gained from firsthand experience and I am grateful to play a small part in his journey.”

In case you’re saying to yourself “Who?,” Palmer played for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Montreal Alouettes in the 2000s. The Canadian former football player became the first non-American Bachelor in 2004.

Though he’s not one of the most recognizable figures from Bachelor Nation, he’s had plenty of hosting gigs since his days on the ABC show. He decided to leave his athletic career behind to become a sports commenter for Fox in 2007, then he joined ESPN. His TV work outside of The Bachelor went so well that he ended up becoming a host on various shows. He’s currently the host of ABC’s The Ultimate Surfer and he hosted the network’s canceled reality show The Proposal, a series created by the Bachelor franchise showrunner Mike Fleiss. He has also hosted The Holiday Baking Championship on The Food Network and multiple Disney Parks Christmas Day Parades.

He should be fine. His head looks like it was plucked off of Easter Island.

“In case you’re saying to yourself ‘Who?,’ Palmer played for the NFL in the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, and Montreal Alouettes in the 2000s.”Hey, I’ve finally found someone with less football knowledge than me!

    • highlikeaneagle-av says:

I have quite a bit of football knowledge, and I still said “Who?”

      • liebkartoffel-av says:

Oh, I have no idea who this dude is; I just know the Alouettes aren’t an NFL team.Edit: And that American football players generally aren’t referred to as “footballers.”

The Montreal Alouettes were once the Baltimore Stallions…but still not an NFL team.

So we’ve gone from Kinja not showing us links to where
folks replied to Kinja not notifying us when we get our precious stars?
    Jesus Christ.

I thought “footballer” was for soccer? We usually just call people who play American football “football players.”

Let’s bring in the guy that broke up with his Bachelor choice right after the show run ended, parlayed that into a broadcast career, and is already under contract at Disney.Good role model for the wanna be (famous) potential bachelors.

Well, at least it isn’t Mike Richards.I’m gonna miss Tayshia and Kaitlyn, who I thought were both awesome. They brought an added level of emotional intelligence that enhanced the experience.

    • bostonbeliever-av says:

Maybe they will stay on as Bachelorette hosts? While Jesse Palmer will only do The Bachelor? Agreed that Tayshia and Kaitlyn were very good in the role.

I fully realize that I clicked on this article, but no, I did not read it. With that out of the way, I came here to say it amazes me that so many people choose to watch garbage like this when we are living in a golden age of TV. That is all.

  • thontaddeopfardentrott-av says:

The only thing Chris Harrison did wrong was to suggest that maybe – just maybe – we shouldn’t rush to ruin a young woman’s life over a party she went to in college. What a time to be alive!

  • drpumernickelesq-av says:

Literally the only time I’ve ever watched The Bachelor was to check out his season, and the only thing I remember about it was that he accidentally gave a rose to the wrong girl because he got two names mixed up. It was the most awkward thing I’ve ever seen.

Wells is RIGHT THERE! Come on, people!

  • krinj-av says:

Sure, Jesse is the new host… right up until his “offensive” tweets, from 20 years ago, are dug up.

  • mamakinj-av says:

So much for diversity! At least they hired an immigrant…
