Justin Theroux quietly boards Duncan Jones’ Mute

Aux Features Film

Hot off playing an asshole of the highest order in The Girl On The Train, Justin Theroux will take on a role in Duncan Jones’ new film Mute, Variety reports. As we previously reported, Mute is set in Berlin 40 years in the future, and concerns a mute bartender (Alexander Skarsgård), who encounters a surgeon (Paul Rudd) in his quest to find his missing girlfriend. It’s unclear what Theroux’s character will be up to, but based on the cast so far it seems like the world of this film consists solely of ruggedly attractive white men. We do know, however, that the story will connect in some way or another to Jones’ Moon, a film far more beloved than his most recent effort, Warcraft. Moon’s star, Sam Rockwell, is also rumored to show up in Mute, which is a Netflix production that will have a limited theatrical release as well. Theroux meanwhile also has one more season of The Leftovers coming up, and is voicing a character in The Lego Ninjago Movie, likely his least cerebral project in the works.
