Israeli directors Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, the duo behind Big Bad Wolves, are certainly swinging for the fences with their next project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s a movie “in the assassin genre” that takes place across multiple generations and is being “envisioned” with an all-female cast that’s lead by Karen Gillan from Guardians Of The Galaxy. That’s all good, but it gets better: The movie is called Gunpowder Milkshake, which is an awesome name, and it’s being pitched as Kill Bill crossed with Baby Driver. Essentially, it’s like someone said “make a movie that sounds cool as shit,” and these two guys said “yeah, sure.”
That’s about all we know at this point, but there’s enough there for us to contemplate. For instance, what the hell does Gunpowder Milkshake mean? Is it somebody’s cool nickname? And how do you tell a story that spans generations and also focuses on Karen Gillan? Will she play an old lady who assassinates people and also a younger lady who assassinates people? And what about this Baby Driver nod? Will there be cool pop music that also spans generations, so we’re following different cool assassin women who listen to cool music in different eras? We should stop, because otherwise we’re going to end up writing our own cool movie.

Really, this movie should be called Nebula, where the title character just goes around killing people and dishing out attitude, and her resume is basically just “my dad killed half the universe.”

I swear Gunpowder Milkshake was on that list of rejected names for American Graffiti.
First thing that came to mind after seeing that title was Lollipop Chainsaw.Regrettably, Gunpowder Milkshake’s going to have to settle for the #2 slot on that title list. (Title list of what? Doesn’t matter. It’s -always- ending up second to LC.)

I just like high quality actors. I love the title. It sounds like an olde-timey mobster slang term for killing people that’s almost completely fallen out of fashion, but there’s like, three hired killers left who still use it as an inside joke. “Want me to give ‘em the old gunpowder milkshake, boss?”
