Kevin Spacey may be attempting to chart a sordid Hollywood comeback right now, but a new docuseries from the U.K.’s Channel 4 is hoping to remind people who he really is—like we could ever forget. Spacey Unmasked promises to take a “forensic look” at the disgraced actor’s rise in the industry and subsequent alleged sexual abuse, featuring testimony from 10 men who say he assaulted them while they were also hoping to make it in the business.

While the docuseries was announced last month, The Hollywood Reporter shared a more detailed look at its contents today ahead of its U.K. release later this week. None of the 10 men involved, all of whom are identified only by their first names, were involved in Spacey’s London sexual assault trial, which concluded in the actor being acquitted on all counts last July. Nine out of ten accusers have not spoken out about their abuse until now.

According to THR, the men’s stories span five decades—from Spacey’s teenage years, to his House Of Cards fame, to his time as artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre. “I felt like I was staring at a soulless monster,” one man, identified as Daniel, commented. Many of the men speak about being blinded by Spacey’s promises to help them in their careers. “If you don’t pay the toll in sexual favors, you’ll have a decent career, but you won’t see your name in lights,” one said. Other allegations include Spacey pushing his groin into the face of an Old Vic worker, masturbating next to an aspiring actor as they watched Saving Private Ryan in a public theater, and forcing himself onto an ex-marine at a party hosted by Bruce Willis.

After brushing off the docuseries in an odd statement last week, Spacey posted a lengthy note on Twitter/X yesterday accusing Channel 4 of not giving him enough time to respond to the new allegations. “Over the last week, I have repeatedly requested that @Channel4 afford me more than 7 days to respond to allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters,” he wrote. “Channel 4 has refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in 7 days to new, anonymized and non-specific allegations is a “fair opportunity” for me to refute any allegations made against me.”

“Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated,” he added, accusing the channel of being a “dying network.” In response, Channel 4 sent the following statement to THR: “Kevin Spacey has been given sufficient opportunity to respond.”

The documentary premieres May 6 and 7 in the U.K.; U.S. premiere dates for Max and Investigation Discovery will be announced next week.

Y’know one good way to find out exactly what the allegations are, Kev?
Tune in on May 6 and 7.

Man, it’s too bad Kevin Spacey died right after he finished filming L.A. Confidential and recording his lines for A Bug’s Life. It would have been awful if he’d been in a string of mediocre bombs and been accused of sexual assault.

He didn’t die, he just returned to his home planet.

    • mahfouz-av says:

He was on his way back to his home planet when he died, as I understand it.

I actually rate his performance (along with Alan Arkin’s and Lemon’s) ahead of Baldwin’s in Glengarry/Glenross. He was good in LA Confidential, but honestly Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Kim Bassinger, and James Cromwell were all stronger. Oh, and the Usual Suspects and Swimming With the Sharks were decent.

I was half expecting this to be a slideshow?

Masturbating to Saving Private Ryan. Who amongst us…?

Jacking off in the theater to Saving Private Ryan is taking the making out during Schindler’s List from Seinfeld to new extremes.

“But, it’s not fair! Four decades ago, while trolling for a ‘sugar daddy’, I was unable to break into the business and be a star. So, I’ll come up with un-verifiable and un-provable accusations against one of the guys who did make it. It was easy, I just watched the unproven accusations in the previous trial and made up similar accusations.”
Admittedly, there may indeed be ‘some’ truth to these accusations. Not that they have bothered to investigate them or give Mr. Spacey enough time to counter them. Alas, the makers of this ‘fiction’ (sorry, I meant ‘documentary’) are not interested in being fair or unbiased. They just want the ratings.

This is why people think men are dumb. No one is making these accusations to further their career. That might be something you’d do bc you’re a giant pile of jizz shaped into a person, but those of us without shit for brains know that wouldn’t be a viable career option.
