Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, the team behind 2011's Bridesmaids, return next month with Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar, a comedy in which a pair of Midwestern besties find themselves wrapped up in a murder plot at a Florida resort. Today, Lionsgate has followed up the movie’s previous teaser with a full trailer that better demonstrates the pair’s daffy chemistry.

Wiig and Mumolo, who also wrote the comedy, co-star alongside Jamie Dornan and Damon Wayans Jr., as well as Fortune Feimster, Vanessa Bayer, and fellow Bridesmaids alum Wendi McLendon-Covey.

All power to ‘em/I hope it’s good but this has areal SNL-movies-in-the-90s vibe of “let’s put two comically annoying people into whatever plot and hope somebody wants to see that”.

      Or…it’s Anchorman for the 20’s.
Also, you aren’t contractually required to watch it.  But you know that already.

On the positive side, this trailer is much better than the first one, but yes, it reminds me a lot of one of those throwaway movies with SNL cast members that would have sat on the video store shelf for years. I actually kind of wish some of the ladies of those years had had the chance to make a dumb, goofy movie like this in their own voice.

Yeah, this looks exactly like the extension of an SNL sketch with 2 quirky characters.

I don’t get all the wet blankets. It looks fine to me.

Looks like harmless dumb fun, which is sometimes just fine. Although the “fun”-part may be worrisomely subjective in this case.I hope the main duo goes through some kind of transformation in the movie, some kind of personal growth or it might just become a stale collection of sketches. If I’d write & direct this there’d be a bonanza sex and drinks and drugs orgy in the last 15 mins., something completely unexcpected to make it a memorable cult classic….

Note: You don’t design “cult classics”. They are deemed so by the audience.

      Like “Sausage Party”…?

I admit to not having seen that movie despite good reviews, great title etc. Seems like it could be something that’s just up my bun!The Danish comedy Klovn, if expanding to non-english movies, is what I’d aim for. It seems slightly similar to this SNL-comedy in its vacation theme but is… a bit raunchier.

Never heard of it. I’ll… check it out.. maybe? It faced a lot of backlash, but I kinda enjoyed Sausage Party the one time I saw it. Sorry I spoiled the surprise, though!

Klovn was a tv show. They made two movies, the first one being the best. It’s like Curb Your Enthusiasm meets The Hangover meets The Girl with The Lower Back Tattoo And Really Poor Life Choices meets Bad Santa.

You get no sense from this trailer that it involves a murder (or any) plot whatsoever just silly banter between the two leads giving it that SNL one joke feel. I’m not sure if that is a good sign or not. It has a Romy & Michelle vibe that could be some fun and Wiig is reliable for a good laugh.

thankful it’s not directed by ben falcone

    I have to admit I can’t wait.
