Luke Evans quits The Crow, so it’s time to Photoshop makeup on someone else

There have been further shakeups involving that reboot of The Crow, frustrating legions of Tumblr users already well into the process of digitally adding makeup to pictures of Luke Evans. The Wrap reports that the actor has exited the long-in-the-works project, leaving director Corin Hardy and Relativity Media scrambling once again to try and find yet another grown man to put on leather pants and pretend to enjoy ’90s industrial music.

Even though he’s been attached to the film since back in May, and as recently as October things were looking good to start shooting in a few months, it seems Evans got sick of waiting around. By early December, when Hardy signed on to replace departing director F. Javier Gutierrez, Evans was already moving on, making statements during his press tour for The Hobbit that suggested he might vanish into the night, like a certain goth crimefighter. “The Crow is not, not for me,” Evans told Den Of Geek at the time. “I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’m very interested in and you know, I can’t wait much longer!”

Evans then darkly added, “It can’t rain all the time,” and disappeared up the side of an abandoned tenement to the strains of The Cure.
