Next batch of Jeopardy! guest hosts includes Savannah Guthrie, Anderson Cooper, and… Dr. Oz

Well, Jeopardy!’s rotating selection of guest hosts—who are temporarily filling in until the show can settle on a permanent replacement for Alex Trebek—continues to be absolutely wild. The first one was Ken Jennings, who makes absolute perfect sense since he is the Jeopardy! GOAT, but everyone else has been either weirdly uninteresting or just plain weird. Katie Couric? Eh, fine. CBS reporter Bil Whitaker? Eh, fine. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Weird choice! Mayim Bialik, who has seemed kind of skeptical of vaccines in the past? Also weird!
Now, Jeopardy! has announced the next batch of guest hosts, and while they are largely fine, there is at least one pick who seems like another weird choice. Here’s the announcement tweet:
Anderson Cooper? He does too many things like this as it is, but fine. Savannah Guthrie? Sure, okay. Dr. Sanjay Gupta? He’s not as overexposed as Cooper and is probably actually overqualified for this gig, so yeah. No complaints. Dr. Mehmet Oz? Well now hold on. This is the same Dr. Mehmet Oz who is good buddies with that bad guy we don’t talk about anymore? The same Dr. Mehmet Oz who promoted the use of hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 cure even though experts later said that it wasn’t even an effective treatment? The same Dr. Mehmet Oz who said that it okay for schools to start reopening because it only mean a few extra thousand people dying? This is the guy who, even if it’s just temporary, is going to be standing at Alex Trebek’s lectern? Who thought this was a good idea?

Slightly nervous they want to go with Bialik and Oz is there to make her anti-vaxxing seem less abnormal.

This is surely just them vamping while they get all the branding taken care of with the Ken Jennings version of the show, right?
Fuck Dr. Oz. He seems like a douche. Anderson Cooper could be a decent host. I’d also rather have Katie Couric or Meridith Viera host instead of savannah
Cooper’s been talked about for some time as a possible permanent replacements. I think this guest-host rotation is, to some degree, a tryout.
Meredith Viera seems like a solid choice for permanent host.

What do you mean “the first WAS” and “the rest HAVE BEEN”? Ken Jennings has been the only host so far. The announcement LIST itself “was” and “has been”? Ugh. That’s a mess, Sammy boy.As for all other guest hosts – I do believe I’m going to despise every one of them in that role. No chance anyone can follow Jennings now. He damn well better want the job and the job better be handed to him.
I still hope they let Will Farrell have a go as guest, even if it’s only for a night or two.

While he would have been great choice in the the past, IMO he’s too old to be the permanent host. I’d like to see someone have the chance at a long legacy like Alex enjoyed.

I personally think they should rest Jeopardy for a few years. The show was and is completely tied to Alex Trebek.
Bring in the ringer: Austin Rogers. He’s smart and has a great deadpan way about him. That would be amazing and really good to bring in some of the younger kids who NEED to get them some learnin.
How is he even a Doctor anymore. After that Senate hearing, I thought the medical community Revoked his License. How disgraceful.
