Events of world-historical importance are happening all around us, seemingly on a weekly basis these days. Another surge of coronavirus is overwhelming health care providers. It’s all a lot to take. So let’s be grateful for music: During times when the world feels like nothing but an anxiety generator, the intimacy of musical expression—whether disappearing into a pair of headphones, or going for a drive and cranking up the speakers—can be a balm. And November brings with it a bevy of great upcoming releases, from scrappy indie rock to glam-tastic pop stars. Here’s The A.V. Club’s look at our most anticipated records of the month, and the artists we’re most excited to hear from.

Ennio Morricone composed music for more than 500 films during his long and celebrated career. With a work ethic like that, it’s no surprise that “Il Maestro” left a treasure trove of music behind when he died in July of this year. Morricone Segreto, the first posthumous collection of Morricone music, promises to open up an undiscovered side of his talents, featuring seven previously unheard tracks recorded from the 1960s through the ’80s—decades Decca Records describe as his “richest creative period.” Whatever secrets these songs have in store, they’re bound to be groovy ones, laced with psychedelic melodies and freewheeling sonic experimentation. Stevie Young is the nephew or Angus and Malcom. He is the son of their older brother, Stephen Young Sr.

I listened to the album last night to take my mind off the election. Pretty solid. Demon Fire is my pick so far for best track.

The Songs I have heard have overall made me happy. It sounds like AC/DC, but it seems to gel better then the past few albums they put out which felt lackluster.

I(‘d say it’s in the top 3 or 4 Brian Johnson records. Mists of Time is really the only bum track.

Quite right, FusiliJerry. It’s been fixed.

A rare spotting of the sweet laurel canyon sound in the wild. Makes me incredibly nostalgic for the days there would have been so many DAWES memes in this comment section

That Smashing Pumpkins song is … actually not bad?

He’s a very talented songwriter and musician. I also liked the leadoff single “Cyr”. My main issue with them (or him, really), post Mellon Collie, is how his voice is often featured, rather than being part of the song. I think the background vocals help tone it down.

If I hadn’t seen your comment, I’d have passed this song by, but you’re right. . .I like this song. It’s almost, just about 90s Smashing Pumpkins good.

Thank you to those who have shared the secrets to avoiding the slideshow presentation, I actually went through the list this month. A few things of excitement.Cant really say what has been on my radar, as it has been jammed up with anxiety and stress this past month. Do highly recommend the Thou+Emma Ruth Rundle collaboration album that came out last week.

Reading the words “the late crooner” made me sit up and say, “Hey!  Tony Bennett’s still alive!”  Then I realized my mistake and became sad.

So, does Nick Cave just not rock any more?

I love Miley’s voice and this new vibe she has is incredible.

I’m really happy to see Kylie on the list as I’m really excited for her new album. Another one I’m excited for is British pop group STEPS “What the Future Holds”. They just released a new single which is so catchy. I pre-ordered the album in September and can’t wait for it to release later this month.

I especially like the slideshow. You can start a video, then click to the next slide and the previous video will still be playing loud and clear. I did it with 20 slides before I went insane. It’s not so bad Homer. They go in through your nose, and they let you keep the piece of brain they cut out. Look. Ooh! Hello! Hello there. Who’s that big man …

I’m always glad to get a new Kacey Johansing album.  Loved Honeycomb back when that project was still active, and while the solo releases have been few and far between since that ended — they’ve always been worth it.
