After determining which of the contestants on FBOY Island were in fact “FBOYs,” Nikki Glaser returns to her first love: Talking about her vagina on stage for laughs. It’s an act that she’s found remarkable and sustained success—with good reason, she’s one of the best to do it. Glaser’s new special, Good Clean Filth is coming to HBO Max this summer. And, sure, the trailer Good Clean Filth may not promise a maturing Nikki Glaser. But what it does promise is laughs. Well, assuming you find jokes about baby talk in bed funny.
When the special was announced last year, Glaser took the opportunity to fire some shots at Dave Chappelle. In a statement, she teased:
It’s so cool to finally work with HBO, the birthplace of the comedy special, on my third hour-long special. My material will mostly consist of my novel comedic takes on the trans-rights movement, just kidding, it’s mainly about sex, dating, and my vagina, because it’s been said by smart men on Reddit that those are the only things female comics discuss, so I’d be a foolish little girl to try to tackle anything else. I’m pumped!
Despite being a veteran of the stage at this point, this is Glaser’s first HBO special. Her previous ones, Perfect and Bangin, were released by Comedy Central and Netflix, respectively.
A staple of late-night shows, panel shows, and everything in between, Nikki Glaser’s hosting jobs increased 200% in the last few years. With the success of FBOY Island on HBO Max and One Night With Nikki Glaser on E!, the comedian has turned crude jokes about pooping your pants into near-constant TV appearances, for which we are grateful.
Good Clean Filth hits HBO and HBO Max on July 16.

Nikki, I love you, but: that really is most of your material. Judging from the trailer at least she acknowledges this and is maybe tired of it (I could understand that it’s almost expected of her at this point) but like that kinda is her whole “hastily packed suitcase”. I’m excited to see what else she’s got, though! May check this one out.

I know. I guess it shows how things stick with you. Yes, I’m a six-foot-tall blond goddess with a successful entertainment career, but in fourth grade everyone thought my sister was the pretty one, so I guess I’m a garbage person who deserves abuse, degradation and humiliation.
Glaser is legit the best part of every Comedy Special Roast she’s ever been on. HFS, she always *kills* it.

I stumbled across her morning show on Sirius and became a regular listener. As the months wore on I couldn’t help notice the pattern of the increasing intensity of two things: her self-involved narcissism (probably unavoidable when hosting a daily radio show where you mostly talk about yourself) and her insecurities/low self-esteem.
I’d also say that anxiety can often manifest as self-involvement, since you legitimately can’t get out of your own head and it convinces you that what’s going on there is always of critical importance.
People with actual anxiety don’t become standup comics and host radio shows.
Nah. Tons of stand-ups have crippling social anxiety but feel completely at ease on stage. It’s a control thing. They have the mic.
A huge percentage of comics have actual anxiety, and a number of other disorders. Bo Burnham gets panic attacks, Bill Hader anxiety attacks, Conan and Maron have talked endlessly about their anxiety, Taylor Tomlinson just had a routine based around her bipolar diagnosis. I can’t imagine there are many comics who don’t have some form of anxiety/depression/psychoemotional problem from which they plumb comedy. What a strange comment.

I thought the bit in the trailer for her special where she says of course a bunch of 20 somethings are expressing a desire the one part of a 40+ year old woman that they cannot see was pretty darn funny. I also chuckled at the bit where she is like no one in their 20s is going to say, oh Nikki, check it out, she is 23 right, but she has an old pussy, that did make me lol! I rarely watch comedy specials but if I need something to watch in the background as I goof on my tablet I could do worse than putting this special on.

Even worse are the titles of stand ups’ books. How many fucking hacks are going to write a collection of essays* called “Nothings Shocking” or “No Apologies” or “My Three Cents”? *Not a memoir. Few stand ups are good enough writers to maintain a cohesive book-length narrative
