Norman Reedus to go sleeveless in another project for Robert Kirkman

Having realized the hick-with-the-heart-of-gold is everyone’s favorite character on The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman has enlisted Norman Reedus for another project, this time a sci-fi movie about a couple of guys living in a bunker after Earth dies.

That’s the gist of Air, which is being produced by Kirkman via his comics imprint, Skybound Entertainment. In the film, nuclear fallout has destroyed Earth’s atmosphere, and Reedus and Djimon Hounsou manage an underground facility where the scientists who will rebuild society are cryogenically frozen until the planet can support life. A 2011 story from Variety said that a “life-and-death struggle” occurs when one of the sleep tanks is damaged—said struggle will presumably force Reedus to cut off his sleeveless shirts and glower sexily.

Back in 2011, the script was called Wake Cycle and was being developed by Boss Media, but fell into its own cryogenic sleep once the rights lapsed. Kirkman revived it, the first from writer Christian Cantamessa, who’s best known for writing video games like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption. Co-writer Chris Pasetto will direct. [The Hollywood Reporter]
