The season of revamps continues as Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to Sunday nights

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Sunday, October 1. All times are Eastern. “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”—William Faulkner

Top pick

Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO, 10 p.m.): This TV season, it’s almost easier to pinpoint the series that haven’t been on TV before than the ones that have. Right on the heels of Will & Grace, Twin Peaks, et al., comes Curb Your Enthusiasm, invading your small screen for the first time since 2011. But, as this promo promises, nothing has changed, as Larry is still in a permanent state of outrage over broken shoelaces, frustrating shampoo bottles, and department-store perfume samples. Meanwhile guest stars like Richard Lewis, Andrea Savage, and Bryan Cranston let Larry have it. We know for a fact that Danette Chavez would never be this rude to anyone, but she’ll be watching regardless.

Regular coverage

Transparent (Amazon)
Bob’s Burgers (Fox, 7:30 p.m.): 8th season premiere!
The Simpsons (Fox, 8 p.m.): 29th season premiere!
Outlander (Starz, 8 p.m.)
Ghosted (Fox, 8:30 p.m.): Series premiere!
Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All Access, 8:30 p.m.): New time!
The Last Man On Earth (Fox, 9:30 p.m.): 4th season premiere!
The Deuce (HBO, 9 p.m.)
Vice Principals (HBO, 10:40 p.m.): Weird time!
Rick And Morty (Adult Swim, 11:30 p.m.): Good show!

Wild card

Ten Days In The Valley (ABC, 10 p.m.): If you want more suspense than laffs on your Sunday night, check out this gripping whodunnit kicking off on ABC tonight. Gwen Ihnat thought that the performances of leads Kyra Sedgwick and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje were so compelling they lifted this series out of what could have been just a paint-by-number suspense show about a child disappearance. And even by the end of this first episode, the suspect list already stretches far and wide. Maybe we should get an office pool going.
