With one case closed in the season two finale of Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building, another one swiftly opens—featuring a familiar face.

In the newly aired episode “I Know Who Did It,” Paul Rudd makes a late appearance as the volatile theatre actor Ben Glenroy, who stars in Oliver Putnam’s (Martin Short) newest Broadway stage production. We only meet Glenroy for a few minutes—enough for him to through out some explicit phrases and stoke the flames of a feud with Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) before becoming the next victim in the whodunnit series, collapsing amongst the smoke on the stage floor on the play’s opening night.

The epilogue sets up another great season of the Emmy-nominated show, with a new mystery tightly wound and poised for unraveling. In Savage and Glenroy’s short interaction, the former tells Glenroy that he better “stay away from her” and that he “knows what he did.”

Now, who’s “her” and what did Glenroy do? We’ll have to wait for next season to find out, but we’re sure there are even more surprise guests in store from the show which has featured the likes of Sting, Tina Fey, and Amy Schumer. What we do know is Selena Gomez’s Mabel Mora is pretty fed up with stumbling into murder cases, as she closes the season with, “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”

The first season of Only Murders In The Building goes into its first Emmys race with 17 nominations, including nods for Martin and Short. Nathan Lane and Jane Lynch are also nominated for their guest appearances in season one. The series hails from creators Martin and John Hoffman, with Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Jamie Babbit, Martin, Short, Gomez, and Hoffman executive producing.

Geez, the Season 2 finale has only been out for a couple hours.  How about a spoiler warning?

  • gwbiy2006-av says:

So you’re going to put his appearance in the season finale right there in the headline so we’ll see it scrolling down the front page, huh?   Thanks for that.

They’ve gotten very bad about having spoilers before the jump.

I’ve been debating just not coming to A.V. Club anymore that’s how bad it’s been. Maybe they’ll finally get the message if all the comment sections are empty.

It’s just mind boggling because seeing a spoiler in a headline makes me not want to click it. It makes me want to click the button to exit the window that’s what it makes me want to click. Is the assumption that it’s clickbait for impatient people or something? Like… who are spoiler headlines serving???

      • cosmicghostrider-av says:

Let’s talk about the real issue: people did this to themselves. Somehow there exists a bunch of people out there on the internet who hate surprises. Example: I know people who were furious that Spider-Mans didnt appear in the final No Way Home trailer. The kind of person who needs to know everything before an MCU film comes out or the type of person who doesnt feel they have the time to commit to watching stuff so they peruse spoilers to be a part of the larger discourse.

These people are the reason why spoiler headlines exist and to all those people ruining it for the rest of us who take the time to properly watch media and digest media, I say fuck you, get a hobby that’s a more productive use of your time instead of staring at a screen all day.

It’s confirmed: Season three will just be a Mac and Me clip.

Is there a more overrated actor than Paul Rudd? He plays one character in every role: Paul Rudd. The man has no range.

  • cosmicghostrider-av says:

I’ve been meaning to check this show out etc. and I haven’t seen it yet but…. how recently did this episode air? Isn’t it extremely shitty to post a spoiler article like this, goddamnit AV Club.

Also I hadnt seen the Better Call Saul finale before I saw the Marie Schraeder headline so also fuck you for that.

    • drips-av says:

It was released literally this morning.

    • absolutetravist-av says:

I hate to be the Devil’s Advocate but the Marie thing is a legit spoiler because it’s a returning character and has implications to story. This is just an actor who’s in a new role, just going by the headline there are no spoilers as to who he is, really. Using BCS, it’s like saying their announcement of Carol Burnett was a spoiler.

Wow, I’m so glad I decided to wait until tonight to watch the finale…
