Calling actors of all stripes: A Siegfried and Roy biopic is in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film from German studio UFA Fiction will be directed by Philipp Stölzl. The magicians, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Uwe Horn, are among the executive producers, so this is very much a sanctioned project.
Stölzl’s most recent feature was 2013’s The Physician, starring Stellan Skarsgård and Olivier Martinez. He also directed music videos for the likes of Garbage and Madonna. “Being able to tell the story of Siegfried and Roy, covering all their successes, desires and dreams, is a wonderful gift that comes with a special set of challenges for me as a director,” Stölzl tells THR. We assume those challenges include large cats.
