Enough good people to override my tendency to avoid multicams (at leas ones made on this side of the pond), but I hope they can avoid the tendency to overmix the audience laughter into something no different than over-sweetened laugh-track-style bullshit, the bane of all attempts to bring back the trad multicam.

Yeah while I agree, Michael Schur has pretty much earned a lifetime benefit of the doubt.

Is it filmed in front of a live audience, a la ODaaT and The Carmichael Show?

As far as I can tell. Haven’t seen ether of those (no Netflix in one case, conflicting schedules and not appointment-inspiring enough to DVR in the other), but the last few times I’ve watched multicams that claimed to be “real old-school live-audience style sitcoms, not a laugh track in the canned sense” shows, they’ve either obnoxiously sweetened it or had some sound guy on the mixing board shoving the slider up on the audience feed way up after every “funny” line in a totally obvious and noticeable way that annoyed me.

Those two are both self-consciously Norman Lear throwbacks with unmixed laugh tracks (as is The Conners…which I’m note allowed to admit I watch!).I highly recommend both, if you ever get Netflix

Very happy to see Natalie Morales getting her own sitcom as a lead, after her scene-stealing supporting roles in Trophy Wife and The Grinder (among other things)

There’s a part of me that is still fervently hoping someone will being back The Middleman

      • smittywerbenjagermanjensen22-av says:

The cast did a table-read of The Middleman follow-up comic, which sadly I think is as close as we will ever get (though I would be happy to be wrong about that—what a great show)

      Kinja doublepost ignore please

Previews did not make this seem interesting at all even with Flynn but since Michael Schur is doing it I’ll give it a few episodes

I wish this show well, and will probably check it out. But even if it doesn’t resonate, Michael Schur is already one of the highest point earners in TV history, and is an easy first ballot for The (real) Good Place.
