After a few years wandering in the blasted, and now abandoned, Quibi wastelands—forcing any critical evaluation of the doomed app’s library to be forced to include the phrase “except for Reno 911!, which was great”—the Reno 911! crew is finally back in a slightly more accessible form. Paramount+ released a brief teaser trailer for the long-running series’ new special, The Hunt For QAnon, in which Deputies Dangle, Wiegel, Jonesy, and more will…well, hunt for QAnon, attempting to track down the source of all the maddening conspiracy theories that have flooded the planet over the last few years. (They also end up on Jeffrey Epstein’s island, which seems about right.)

To which we say the same thing we’ve said to every Reno revival over the last few years: Yes, please. Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Niecy Nash, Mary Birdsong, and Ian Roberts remain about as strong a comic ensemble as you could ever watch blunder idiotically into various crime scenes, and seeing them get the cash to film more of the show’s improvised chaos is always welcome.

The Hunt For QAnon is part of Paramount’s ongoing efforts to leverage its Comedy Central brands for its own streaming library, instead of farming them out to be licensed to other companies. (See also the upcoming, largely mysterious new South Park special that’ll be going straight to the streaming service.)

Meanwhile, you can watch the (very short) teaser for the special up above, reminding you that, while the Reno Sherriff’s Department is bad at many things, they’re also just incredibly bad at coming up with slogans for themselves. (They’re also a tongue-in-cheek joke about the fact that Reno 911! has now improbably outlived C.O.P.S., the series it was originally designed as a parody of.)

Reno 911!: The Hunt For QAnon will air on Paramount+ on December 23.

What do you think C.O.P.S. would stand for?

Reno 911 is SUPER racist. Fuck that show!

A pink scarf, really? The gay thing was interesting back in the day but it’s pretty normal now. Get with the times, pigs 😉

My nuts hurt just looking at him squeezed into those shorts. I also remember an interview with Lennon where he figured the show would never get picked up, so he figured what the heck and put on those insanely tight shorts.
      Still comedy gold though.

Those shorts are not for an old man, nosirree.“Excuse me, my balls fell out.”“Ooops, nut out, sorry.”“Excuse me, hot day, bag issue.”And this would just be me on the way to the coffee machine.

I’m sure it’ll be fine, I just can’t find any humor in Q or anything else that spawned from the Trump years.

Come now, watching that moron Shaman get sentenced and his rambling speech absolutely made me laugh. Seeing those idiots at an airport in Texas or whatever for JFK to show? That shit is funny. Then again, I’m old and remember the Moonies and all the other folks from the late 70’s so maybe it’s just me.

      • labbla-av says:

Nope I still have a lot of trauma from them storming the capitol and almost assassinating parts of out government. Not funny and a very different situation from Moonies

        • harrydeanlearner-av says:

The traitors and losers storming the capital were not all “Q” in any sense though. Don’t forget the d-bag Proud Boys and other losers who deserve jail time.
But anyway, I can absolutely laugh at Q and his idiots. Cause they need to know they’re being mocked, and know that they’re up for ridicule. They want you to fear and hate them.

          • labbla-av says:

You’re free to do whatever you want. My original comment was purely about my personal feelings on the matter.

          • harrydeanlearner-av says:

That’s fair, and I apologize if you feel I made light of your feelings towards those losers.

      • Axetwin-av says:

41 months is nothing, especially if they’re already taking into account time served.  And it’s not like he won’t be protected on the inside because of the stunt he pulled.

    • TRT-X-av says:

Same. The consequences of this are still playing out. It’s not over and it’s not funny.

  • foghat1981-av says:

I hope Joe Lo Truglio’s Rizzo pops up.  But it sounds like he may not have been able to make it 🙁

  • TRT-X-av says:

The problem with all of these Q based comedy specials is Q isn’t funny.Like, who watched the events of Jan 6 and went “hahahahaha this is hilarious oh hee eheh eheheh!”

  • mshep-av says:

Crushin’ on Kerri Kenney since 1995, no end in site . . .
