Back in 2012, Creed singer Scott Stapp told VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live about the time rapper and reality show star T.I. saved him from what he described as a suicide attempt, after he jumped off of a Delano Hotel balcony in Miami during a drug binge in 2006. But now, Stapp says that while T.I. was basically his guardian angel back then, it wasn’t to save Stapp from himself. Now he says T.I. rescued him from what was simply a balcony-related accident.
The singing lump of Human Clay explained to TMZ on Wednesday: “I had met T.I. back in 2004; we were both writing songs for ‘The Passion of The Christ: Songs Inspired By’ soundtrack, and we had briefly interacted there and knew what each [other] looked like. We’d talked about being fans of Alabama … and as I’m lying on the ledge, blood fell to [T.I.’s] feet and he looked up and he had an Alabama hat on. I said, ‘roll tide,’ and then he looked at me and put two and two together and really saved my life.”
In 2015, Stapp was placed on a psychiatric hold after allegedly threatening to kill then-President Barack Obama. Later that year, he revealed he’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after suffering a “psychotic break.” T.I., meanwhile, seems to be taking a break from the “Rescuing Literal Falling Rock Stars” business. The entertainment mogul is involved in a lawsuit with cryptocurrency businessman Ryan Felton, as investors in their FLik Token crypto are upset that the get-rich-quick scheme backfired. Turns out T.I. can save you from getting flattened, but not from going flat broke.
