Well, whatever it is that Jerry Seinfeld has been hinting about recently— somehow connected to “a little secret” about the finale of his massively popular sitcom, Seinfeld—it doesn’t seem to have much to do with the cast of his massively popular sitcom, Seinfeld. At least, not series star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has now (briefly) responded to comments Seinfeld made during a recent stand-up gig, when he said that “something is going to happen” in regards to the controversial last episode. To which Louis-Dreyfus responded, in a recent interview with The Guardian, “Yeah, I just saw [that news] last night. And I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”

The Veep star is the first member of the non-Seinfeld Seinfeld cast to comment on the series creators’ remarks, with neither Michael Richards, nor Jason Alexander, having weighed in as of yet. (Ditto Larry David, who Seinfeld implied was directly involved with whatever he’s planning.) At the very least, Louis-Dreyfus’ response suggests that whatever’s in the works isn’t some kind of reunion or other project that involves the cast getting back together to, like, rehash the famous finale. (Or that Julia Louis-Dreyfus is just a good actor, but it’s worth noting that all involved already did a Seinfeld revival of sorts within the world of David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, so returning to that well again might be a bit redundant.)

Louis-Dreyfus has a new film coming out, Tuesday, which premiered at the London Film Festival this week. She also starred in Nicole Holofcener’s You Hurt My Feelings this year, in addition to the Netflix comedy You People. So she’s presumably not exactly sweating a lack of Seinfeld in her life at this point, no matter what David and Seinfeld are actually cooking up.

What is the DEAL with people who start rumors about their old show and their former cast mates not knowing about it?The Veep star is the first member of the non-Seinfeld Seinfeld castI had to read that a few times before realizing what you wrote meant: “The Veep star is the first non-Jerry Seinfeld member of the Seinfeld cast.”

I’ve feared this day since Seinfeld went off the air twenty-five years ago. Jerry’s gone mad with power. Soon he’ll be forcing everyone at gunpoint to dress like he did: with large sporty sneakers, snug jeans, and a dress shirt so comically oversized, even Wayne Knight could run laps inside it.

“What’s the deal with airplane hijackings — like this one! Now put on the oversized collared shirts or I crash this f*cker into the ground!”

Not as much snug jeans as high-waisted jeans with straight, loose legs. It’d also be a redundant thing to do because Seinfeld-core is basically Gen Z’s current dresscode. ‘S all cyclical.

Someone suggested it’s going to be for a Super Bowl spot or something. That makes a lot of sense, especially since Seinfeld has done stuff like that without the entire cast. Maybe he just hasn’t asked Julia yet.

I wonder if she knows what the hell is happening in this phreaky new SPR3 video?

I feel like they already did the best they could to fix the finale

That’s such an Elaine way to respond to this, though. She’s clearly getting back into character.

Would you please try to use proper English in your articles? Do you kids even take writing classes in college anymore? I sure hope you’re not paid money for writing articles like this one.

I’ve no recollection of the Seinfeld finale at all. Must have been memorable.

I love it. In one candid response, Louis-Dryfus narrows down what this could be. Jerry and David are probably doing a Super Bowl ad that re-cuts or alters the show’s final episode in some way.

  • simplepoopshoe-av says:

This is such non-news and the A.V. Club knows this is an empty story. Nobody suggested there would be a Seinfeld revival or reunion. That was said by no one. This is just hollywood journalists being bored and stirring up nothingness.

It’s a re-edit that includes unused footage shot back in 1998, which clarifies that all four of them died in the plane crash and the trial is really the final judgment of their souls. Julia Louis-Dreyfus barely remembers filming the extra material and was told at the time that it was just a goof to throw off anyone leaking spoilers.

To be fair, there isn’t a member of the onscreen* cast that needs a reunion show less than Dreyfus.*Larry David doesn’t need this shit either.
