Sherlock creators are going to tackle Dracula next

Aux Features TV

Having exhausted the “Sherlock Holmes, but with the internet” concept of Sherlock, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are moving on to another oft-adapted literary figure: Dracula. According to Variety, the two are working on a new series that will bring Bram Stoker’s bloodsucker (back) to television. At this point the show—which will follow Sherlock’s lead with episodes running around 90 minutes—doesn’t have a home, but Variety implies it will likely also end up at the BBC.

While Dracula has made some pop culture appearances recently—in the easily forgotten NBC project starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and the better-not-mentioned Dracula Untold—there is arguably room for writers to do right by the character.
