It’s only been a month since Chadwick Boseman died from a largely secret four-year battle with colon cancer, but the stories about him being an unbelievably kind and generous person continue to roll in. Speaking with Empire, Boseman’s 21 Bridges co-star Sienna Miller revealed that he actively worked to get her into the movie and even personally took a pay cut so she could get paid the amount that had asked the studio for. Miller explains that Boseman was apparently a fan of her work and had approached her about joining 21 Bridges, and she was willing to consider the job just because she wanted to work with him.

However, she said she would only do it if the studio (the specific studio isn’t named, and there are a few that funded 21 Bridges) would meet a specific salary number that she wanted. Miller says her daughter was just starting school and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go back to work, so the pay had to be worth it. When the studio wouldn’t agree to give her what she wanted, Miller says Boseman stepped in and voluntarily donated some of his salary so she could get to the number she wanted. She says he told her, “You’re getting paid what you deserve, and what you’re worth,” which she considers the “most astounding thing” she’s experienced in the entertainment industry. “It’s just unfathomable to imagine another man in that town behaving that graciously or respectfully,” she says, adding that there was “no showiness” when Boseman did it and that “other male actor friends” tend to “go very very quiet” when she tells this story. “[They] go home and probably have to sit and think about things for a while.”

I swear to God I was thinking the same thing even before the comments loaded. There is, of course, no God.

No way… the military will take care of him for all of us. Colonel Sanders that is.

I was just thinking this.  This guy died but fucking piece of shit Trump is still alive and will probably continue to live another 50 fucking year.  Fuck the universe.

I feel a little like I feel when I see some Gofundme has raised $10,000 to offset $1 million in medical bills.
It wasn’t Chadwick’s job to make her whole. It was the studio’s job.

I thought he was a likable guy.  I never knew he was Keanu Reeves likable until now and I so wish I had.  People like that always put a smile on my face and lately that is worth its weight in gold.  Poor guy.

I agree. I must admit, there were a few times I got swayed by the fanboy crowd that criticized him from looking tired of doing the Wakandan salute thing during the Black Panther promotional period. I thought “this guy seems to think he’s better than this role that made him famous”.How wrong I was.

I just thought he was a little tired of doing it over and over and I could relate because honestly, who wouldn’t be at that point? But yeah, now we know he was just plain tired.

It makes perfect sense, I guess at first I just didn’t see it that way because a different narrative was already formed. Which is part of the reason why I’ve increasingly tried to stay away from the fanboy crowd since then.

God, he looks so thin even in that picture. It’s hard to think about with the benefit of hindsight…

Sienna Miller is underrated as fuck.  Boseman had an eye for talent, it seems.

I loved her from the second the Fast Eddie credits rolled.

She was the only one having fun in that terrible GI Joe film from 2009.

Right? That movie was one of the few chances an actor *should* dial the performance to 11 (see also: Showgirls) and Miller was the only one to deliver. Her scenes in the Paris sequence was the movie’s (only) high-point.With Boseman…hearing these anecdotes post-passing makes the loss of him even more painful. And we only knew him via his public persona. I can’t imagine how awful this loss feels if he was regularly in one’s life.

She was quite good in a movie she recently did called “American Woman”. I was surprised that her performance in it garnered so little hype. The lack of critical attention was a real shame.

21 Bridges could’ve been a great flick. The criminals story was far superior to the cops nonsense. Ray and Michael pluggin away at the beginning was a great storyline. It was real and no nonsense, it was straight up “we’re getting the fuck outta here” and just straight shootin thru everyone.

What a guy.  What a loss.
