Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart to cohost VH1 cooking show

With so much drama in the LBC, it’s kinda hard being Snoop D-O-Double-G, but he—somehow, someway—keeps comin’ up with funky-ass marketing opportunities like every single day. The latest foray into cross-platform merchandising for hip-hop’s Krusty The Klown: Co-hosting the VH1 series Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party with doily doyenne Martha Stewart, where the two will trade recipes, quips, and brand positioning with their colorful celebrity guests, beginning this fall. With Snoop and Martha’s playfully bickering chemistry anchoring this night of cocktail banter and patrician passive-aggression, it promises to be just like a weekly Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? with a lot more weed jokes.

The show was previewed today on Good Morning America with a video in which Snoop Dogg references smoking pot, Martha Stewart says “-izzle,” and it’s heavily implied they’re going to fuck.

But this isn’t your average pop culture reality show mash-up, forged in the hopes of a basic cable network desperate to create viral moments from America’s collective tittering over starched-shirt white people gettin’ bizzay. As Snoop tells Variety, “My homegirl Martha and I have a special bond that goes back,” a friendship based on that most lasting of connections: ironic juxtaposition.

Indeed, ever since Stewart was paired with Busta Rhymes to drop some phat hip-hop lingo at the ’97 MTV Music Video Awards, she’s made an entire side gig out of bringing her autocratic, Connecticut Caesar aesthetic to the streets and playing up a secret rough-and-tumble side (one that’s made slightly more authentic by the fact that she actually did time). And she’s since found the perfect accessory to really tie that whole narrative together in her many team-ups with Snoop, with the calculatedly odd couple sharing a contact high at the Comedy Central Roast Of Justin Bieber and recently playing a wink-wink, marijuana-themed practice round of ABC’s $100,000 Pyramid revival.

More germane to their latest endeavor, Snoop has also been a favorite guest on Martha, where the two made cognac-laced mashed potatoes and also baked some brownies, during which Snoop Dogg strongly hinted that he liked weed and that they should put some weed in the brownies.

Who knows what dishes they’ll cook up for Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party, or which ones Snoop will suggest should have weed in them, to Martha’s gently chiding chagrin? You’ll have to tune in to find out! Or just make an educated guess.
