In a truly sad story reported by space.com, the cremated remains of James "Scotty" Doohan of Star Trek fame have been lost somewhere in the wilds of New Mexico. Doohan's ashes–along with those of 200 others, including pioneering Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper–were meant to be shot into orbit, but the rocket carrying them suffered an unexplained malfunction and fell back to earth. Searchers are currently combing the rough terrain for clues.
