These are indeed 12 really good movies.

Prometheus as one of the “best movies to watch”? No. Maybe with Joel and the robots making quips, but the movie itself is the worst thing Ridley Scott has ever done. “Scientists” who launch an expedition based on “what they believe” despite not having having scientific evidence for it. Ground crew who do dumb things that get them killed for no reason like pet alien snakes — and to make things worse, this was a character that was established as being timid earlier!

    • lattethunder-av says:

You think Prometheus is Scott’s worst effort? I can only assume you haven’t seen The Counselor.

      • frankwalkerbarr-av says:

The Counselor was a disappointment given that the script was written by Cormac McCarthy and had a high-profile cast, but it was merely mediocre, not terrible.

“Adequate Movie to Watch on Cable if You Have Not Seen It and Can Now Cross it Off Your List”, but it would be far below Predators. Watch Alien again instead; at least Captain Dallas had a weapon and plan.

100% agree. Terrible, terrible film. Pretty to look at, and that’s about it.

I could have sworn No Time To Die was going to be streaming here as well. No? Only theatres for now?

I have nothing constructive to add, I just wanna say “MAH DEEYOK”

Here’s the hill I’ll die on today: The Bad News Bears is the best of these. This is a great list (I didn’t like Prometheus much but it’s worth seeing).

    • katanahottinroof-av says:

Not Die Hard? Come on. You love Die Hard.

      • coatituesday-av says:

I love Die Hard, yes. But when I think of an action hero, it’s always Walter Matthau rather than Bruce Willis. [see Charley Varrick, Hopscotch, The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3, and The Laughing Policeman..]

        • bassplayerconvention-av says:

Those are 3 excellent movies and The Laughing Policeman, and I only separate that one out because I don’t think I’ve seen it yet, which I should rectify as soon as possible. Walter Matthau is a goddamn treasure.

The pre-title sequence from Raising Arizona is one of the best short movies ever.To say nothing of Randall TEX Cobb as The Lone Biker of the Apocalypse…

    • deeeeznutz-av says:

Raising Arizona was one of my favorite movies growing up in the 80s, and unsurprisingly Big Lebowski ended up being my favorite movie as an adult. I may not have understood everything back then, but the absurdity of the characters and situations really caught my attention. Also, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is probably my favorite Wes Anderson movie. This is a good month for Prime.

Prometheus was a titan, not a god.
