The Falcon And The Winter Soldier are bantering buddies in this new teaser for the Disney+ series

If WandaVision, Disney+’s first TV tie-in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a superhero horror story crossed with a parody of classic sitcoms, then it’s looking more and more like The Falcon And Winter The Soldier (Disney+’s next MCU TV series) looks like a superhero action movie crossed with a wacky buddy-comedy. Oh sure, there’s a big emphasis on action in this extended teaser (a shorter version premiered during the Super Bowl), but it’s really all about the bickering and bantering between its two eponymous heroes.

Also: Sharon Carter is back, getting some good hits in, and Zemo is inching ever-closer to his lovably garish comic book outfit. The purple mask! The furry collared coat! Excellent stuff. You can get a better look at Zemo in a new poster that Disney released, which we’ve embedded below the trailer. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier is coming to Disney+ in March, right after the end of WandaVision.

At this point, I’m down for whatever the MCU wants to serve up.  I’ve never not been entertained.

  • donchalant-av says:

I am on board for whatever Marvel does. But the trailers for this show have me worried. Bucky seems to be more comic relief than kick-ass metal-armed super soldier. I hope he gets a chance to show his stuff in the show.

Much like Tom Brady, I’ve learned to never, ever doubt that Marvel will bring the goods. Hopefully this will be a clever genre excercise – 80s throwback spy/action nonsense. But … the MCU sure does seem to gloss over the fact that Bucky assassinated Tony’s parents. I know he was brainwashed, but still …

Baron Zemo finally gets a costume, but it looks like the least amount of effort was put into it.

    • bingo1969-av says:

      Masks are in fashion again!

    • mythicfox-av says:

My best guess based on how it looks is that it’s some sort of repurposed tactical gear. Not a lot of incentive for him to make it look like a costume, especially given his apparent anti-superhero agenda.

    • michelle-fauxcault-av says:

The mask looks a little closer to a live-action version of the Rose than Zemo, but we’ll probably never get the former, so that’s fine. Eh. It’s close enough to Zemo’s look for me.

    • homerbert1-av says:

He’s got the purple balaclava and furry ruffles around his neck. That’s enough for me.

  • perlafas-av says:

Curious question. Is that the first time they use the word “superhero” ?

  • lattethunder-av says:

Who the hell is that on the poster? Carrot Top? Rowlf?

  • andysynn-av says:

Has it been announced who Erin Kellyman is playing? Because with the red hair (I know she’s a natural red-head, btw), the skull mask (with red hand print) and surprising prominence in the trailer… she’s not playing the MCU version of Sin by any chance is she?

I remember it being rumoured that they were doing something with the Madbomb but might have changed it in light of the coronavirus, but I really hope they stuck to it because its the perfect heavy-handed comic book metaphor for right now.

    • wrightstuff76-av says:

The madbomb was sort of used as a plot line in Agent Carter. It would be interesting to see if MCU returned/rehashed that story.

    • fcz2-av says:

i don’t know the comics very well, but if this had anything to do with The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight, I will die a happy man.

Surprisingly pleased to see Sharon CarterAlso good for her that she gets two potential new love interests, neither of whom is in love with her aunt her uncle.Did a quick edit there.

    • bingo1969-av says:

They are both in love with her uncle, unfortunately.

      • arlo515-av says:

Great-uncle really (Sharon is Peggy’s great-niece), and that’s assuming the same timeline (which we shouldn’t), and well never mind.

  • anthonystrand-av says:

Can someone explain the appeal of Bucky to me? He’s in about six movies, and he never shows a hint of personality in any of them.

    • bc222-av says:

Well, you could kinda say the same thing about Scarlett Witch, right? Shes angry (Age of Ultron), she’s mad (Civil War), she’s sad (Infinity War). And her show seems to be doing just fine.
And I mean, with Bucky, the whole point of the Winter Soldier was to have NO personality. I will at least give this a shot. I think Sebastian Stan has at least show personality in other roles.

      • dirtside-av says:

Not to slam Stan, but Elizabeth Olsen is a far better actor. Even with weak material, she’s compelling.Bucky is indeed not a very interesting character in the MCU, I can’t argue with that. But we’ll see what they do with this; with him being one of the two leads, that gives Marvel a big opportunity to make him more interesting.

        • brontosaurian-av says:

As superhero powers go he’s rather meh too. Watching this trailer I thought maybe the movies have him about time to fulfill his role, I’m not really intrigued to learn more about this character. Scarlet Witch felt underutilized and you know there’s a lot more to her character and powers than we’ve seen. Bucky is strong, good at fighting and has a mechanical arm now. Which yup.

    • rogueindy-av says:

So far he’s mostly been either in the sidelines or in an assassin-trance. This is pretty much the first opportunity he’s getting to really be fleshed out as a character.See also: Boba Fett, who didn’t really get much to do until The Mandalorian.

    • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

his appeal is that he’s fairly cute and is friends with captain america.

    • revjab-av says:

I think Sebastian Stan would agree with you.But don’t forget his normal, WW2 Brooklyn-guy Bucky Barnes. He had plenty of personality.

    • labbla-av says:

He’s really coasting on the Winter Soldier story in the comics making him interesting.

  • bc222-av says:

Is the Winter Solder arm looking way more Black Panther-y than it used to? i know it’s from Wakanda and all, but it wasn’t black before, was it? With the little energy grid pattern. I thought it looked more like Colossus’s arm.

    • soylent-gr33n-av says:

It was black in Infinity War and Endgame. Shuri’s tech is probably better than whatever Hydra or the Russians had built for him.

    • nenburner-av says:

It looked like Colossus’ arm before Tony blew it off at the end of Civil War. The new arm he gets in Wakanda in Infinity War is very Wakanda-y.

  • psychopirate-av says:

Thrilled that Sharon Carter is coming back—I love that actress. The show overall looks like a lot of fun. It’ll be nice to have a more straight-forward MCU show, after the wild ride that is WandaVision.

    • oohlala-swagger-av says:

Same!It just baffles me how the MCU could cast an actress who played a character spending four seasons wrecking peoples’ lives with a smile on her face for the sake of revenge as the most important and badass female character in the Cap comics and then go “nah, we’ll sideline her”. Like, THIS is the Sharon Carter we (and Emily) have deserved.

  • notanothermurrayslaughter-av says:

I don’t know my skylines that well, but I’m pretty sure this trailer was a step closer to confirming Madripoor exists in the MCU.

  • bonerland-av says:

    Needs more US Agent.

  • kendull-av says:

After Wandavision, this feels like a blast of stale air.

  • toddisok-av says:

Is “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” supposed to sound like a soap opera?

  • igotsuped-av says:

Hey, this looks like fun AND like it won’t cause my brain to wrap around itself every week.

  • seanpiece-av says:

I’m very glad that at some point, Marvel Studios realized that they didn’t have to kill all of their non-Loki villains at the end of their first appearance, so that they can do stuff like have a TV mini-series where Zemo is the bad guy.

Falcon seems to be a lot more wise-cracking than he was in previous appearances. I imagine that’s because being a professional, relatively stoic military guy isn’t going to fly when your partner is THE professional, stoic military guy. Plus I’m sure they’re starting to lean in to Mackie’s own personality a bit more.
