We’re now deep into Fantastic Four casting speculation season, as Marvel continues to fill out the ranks of the upcoming 2025 feature with very big names, typically coming attached to some very big question marks about who they’ll be playing. (There is, for instance, still nobody attached to the part of Doctor Doom, one of Marvel’s top three bad guys. Unless it’s the just-cast John Malkovich. But nobody will say!) Luckily, the film’s latest casting notice actually comes with a name attached for once: Say hello to your new Galactus, Marvel fans, in the form of The Green Knight’s Ralph Ineson.

Anyone who’s seen—or, more specifically, heard—Ineson will understand pretty immediately how he got the part: The British actor (whose other credits over the last few years include The Witch, Harry Potter, Game Of Thrones, and more, in addition to some very prominent video game roles) has one of the most impressive voices in all of movie-dom, a slow-moving bass growl that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand immediately to attention. Given that his character will probably be mostly CGI—although hopefully not to the extent of 2007 Fantastic Four disappointment Rise Of The Silver Surfer, which depicted the classic Jack Kirby design as a big dumb cloud—it’s going to be Ineson’s voice doing the heavy lifting here, selling the planet-devourer’s cosmic-level threat.

Reported by THR, Ineson’s casting is our first real confirmation that the MCU’s stab at the Four would feature this particular character; plot details about the film, which will star Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular team, are still being kept tightly under wraps. In addition to Malkovich and Ineson,

I just hope he has a big G on his chest like he did back in his original appearance

  • frasier-crane-av says:

Most importantly, he played Finchy on The Office.Great choice to embed a clip featuring his singular voice… saying 3 words.

    • ghboyette-av says:

Yeah, seems like William just wanted to shamelessly plug The Green Knight, instead of using any scene from The Witch. Not mad about it though, The Green Knight is worth plugging.

The Green Knight was my biggest movie disappointment of the last ten years. Great-looking movie, great, great cast. I’m sad just thinking about it.

Maybe he meant to put something at the end, you know after he just…stops typing here: In addition to Malkovich and Ineson,

Mostest importantly, he kissed Roy on the arse in The IT Crowd

    • simplepoopshoe-av says:

Yeah I was genuinely confused by the clip choice. I wanted to hear the voice and it’s at the very end of the clip lmao what.

    • ronniebarzel-av says:

When did Ineson cross over into the level of success where writers don’t feel compelled to include The Office when listing a few of his previous works?EDIT: I don’t mean to imply that he hasn’t. I’m just curious. Was it Harry Potter or The Witch?

      • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

i mean, i feel like it’s not that he crossed over, it’s that the uk office isn’t as relevant as it was 20 years ago.

      Bloody good rep..

  • igotlickfootagain-av says:

I look forward to Galactus demonstrating his awesome power by throwing a kettle over the roof of a pub.

  • wrecksracer-av says:

I only need one villain in my FF movie. That villain is Dr. Doom

  • 3fistedhumdinger-av says:

I also remember him as playing one in every six villagers in The Witcher 3.

  • disqusdrew-av says:

*sigh*I was really hoping this movie would have a smaller villain instead of introducing a big bad right away. Now maybe Galactus won’t be dealt with in just this movie and will stick around for others but I get the sense they’re just gonna burn thru him in one shot

    • srgntpep-av says:

I’m betting it’s a multi-verse thing.  Only way they give this away this soon before the film is if they dispatch him in the first act.

    • simplepoopshoe-av says:

And dash my dreams of Cosmic Ghost Rider appearing in the MCU. God I hope not. Give me cosmic ghost rider on the Guardians lineup you cowards!

    • wrecksracer-av says:

I’m afraid they are going to try to shoehorn in 10 villains for an epic 3 1/2 hour film

    • refinedbean-av says:

I’m with you, but rumor has it that Galactus will chase FF from their own universe to the MCU, and be a bigger bad going forward as they start tying off the multiverse loose ends. But who knows.

      • capeo-av says:

In the comics Galactus can destroy the entire multiverse by himself. Obviously the MCU takes great liberties with the comics (which themselves aren’t the height of consistency) but I could see them in some using Galactus to finally end the multiverse tangle the MCU has found itself in. Especially since they are pivoting away from Kang. I expect the upcoming MCU Secret Wars will follow the basic concept of the last comics Secret Wars and collapse all the multiverse timelines into one MCU timeline that will include X-Men and F4 going forward.

        • refinedbean-av says:

We’re basically gonna get Endgame with the Fox properties stepping out of the portals, aren’t we.

    • adamtrevorjackson-av says:

same. i HOPE it means they aren’t going to defeat him and he’ll be flopping around in space for a while.

    • nothumbedguy-av says:

LOVE the casting, but I really hope he’s a barley seen, looming threat to be dealt with later on, ala pre-Infinity War Thanos.

    • capeo-av says:

I highly doubt they’ll “defeat” Galactus in any permanent way in this movie. I think he’ll be part of how they get the F4 to the mainline MCU universe. Galactus can travel the multiverse at will in the comics and even destroy the entire multiverse if need be. He might not end up being the antagonist of the movie. He’s been a protagonist in storylines when some big bad gains enough cosmic power to threaten the “balance of the universe.” Strictly speaking he’s just a cosmic force that’s supposed to above concepts like morality and just does what he does to keep the cosmos in harmony. Of course, that’s hard to make into a compelling character so some storylines tended to humanize him a bit more.

  • kendull-av says:

He has a great voice, but for me he’s not tall enough

    • coatituesday-av says:

He has a great voice, but for me he’s not tall enough Ebon Moss-Bachrach is too tall to be Ben Grimm, for me. CGI is the great leveler.

  • amazingpotato-av says:

Galactus appears: I WILL EAT YOUR PLANET AND NONE OF YOUR HEROES CAN STOP ME!

Dr. Doom suddenly appears: You are correct, and that is why Doom is here. (Proceeds to soundly defeat Galactus)The Thing: Oh great. THIS guy.

My greatest (unlikely to be fulfilled) hope for this movie is that it fully embraces the fever dream creativity and wildness of late 60s Jack Kirby.

He’d better speak in the 3rd person, or #NotMyGalactus .

  • realtimothydalton-av says:

lol the fantastic four movie is just a bunch of TV actors. Can’t help but think the cheap, predictable, unimaginative casting is a harbinger of marvels to come. sorry nerds!

Sorry pal, only George Romero could pull off those frames.
