Fast & Furious 9 is almost here! After over two years and multiple delays, the high-octane and highly anticipated ninth entry in the Fast & Furious franchise is set to return (for real this time) this summer and the film boasts a jam-packed cast. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and Jordana Brewster all star in F9: The Fast Saga, the next installment which is slated for a June 25 release in the U.S.

The film will continue following Dominic Toretto and his crew as they try to thwart a dastardly plot masterminded by Toretto’s younger brother and skilled assassin, Jakob, who has teamed up with villain Cipher.

Justin Lin, who directed Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6, all of which helped turn the franchise into an international success, has returned for F9. Lin has also signed on to direct the next two Fast & Furious films which will bring the fiercely loved franchise to an end.

Holy crap, random brother appearing, dumb as rocks plot that’s already way too much “family” crap…

    Yeah I can’t wait, it’s gonna be amazing ^^

I fully expect a scene where Vin Diesel survives in the vacuum of space for 30 minutes with nothing but a lungful of air and the power of family.Hell, let’s just switch genres and make F10 onwards a fucking space opera involving an intergalactic space race.

I’ve been waiting for the one where they slip the surly bonds of Earth and drive cars in space for years now. It has to happen eventually, and I need to see Vin Diesel hit the NOS in a moon buggy.

Fast 10 he gets to space and meets Riddick and they do a double team style movie

Besides space, there are only three directions Fast and Furious movies can go:A) To Hell, where Dom races Satan for Letty’s soul. Also serves as a back door relaunch of Dark Universe.B) Into a multiverse built around Vin Diesel franchises (including Iron Giant obviously) or car-based life forms.C) Back in time to the Old West, where Dom’s gang ride horses and rob trains.

      Toretto Ascending

there is definitely a scene with a ramshackle makeshift spacecraft looking thing and spacesuits launching from a plane in that trailer…
Sooooo maybe we won’t have to wait for F10 ? 😀

They’re just going to keep shortening the title with each new iteration. The tenth will simply be X. The eleventh will be two vertical lines. The twelfth merely a visual representation for the function F(x) = X²

Han: How do you want to play this?Dom: Fast…Letty: Okay, we can—Dom:..or Furious.

  • cannabuzz-av says:

The F is for “family”. Also, “For fuck’s sake, how is this still thing?”

looks exactly how it’s supposed to look. hope it’s 3 hours long. i’m hootin AND i’m hollerin!

Can’t wait. These movies are about as dumb and mindless as it gets but they’re so damn fun. The action is really well-crafted and the writers really lean into just how ridiculous all of this shit is.

  • tonysnark45-av says:

I am so ready for this. It’s gonna be cheesy and stupid, and I can’t wait!

Never seen a single one of these, but I’ve seen all the trailers! Seems good enough to me, but am I missing something other than a bunch of nonsensical plot stuff and gabbing about family?

    • nilus-av says:

Lots of carsI tried a few years ago to watch these from the first one. Could not get through the movie. I know the change radically after Tokyo Drift but I am to much of a completionist to not watch them all

    • loopychew-av says:

I’d suggest 5-7, maybe back to 1-4 after 7, then 8 and Hobbs&Shaw. But you’ve got the bulk of the F&F franchise right there: nonsensical plot stuff that’s basically meant to bridge monologues about family and increasingly OTT, usually car-based setpieces.

1 – Remake of Point Break, they literally going to steal a truckload of VCR/TV Combos!2 – Buddy cop movie w/o VD – Perfectly fun to watch.3 – They keep the moniker, basically about drifting culture but nobody from the rest of the series in it except for one guy and spoiler, he dies.4-9 – They realize that 3 sucked really hard and therefore needs to be reset, they bring back Diesel, turn it more or less into international spy thriller ala Mission Impossible and that’s more or less the series after that. Each one ups the scale, brings in a new A-ish list villain and rinse and repeat. I saw 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 for some reason (a friend dragged me to the last).  None of them are bad but the first one is actually decently written and I stand by it having some gravitas if dumb.  It makes an effort at being more than a remake of PB.  2 is a solid buddy comedy.  3 just screws everything up and the chronological flow of the movies is better to watch, I think 3 technically takes place after 6 or 7, so if you wanted to watch them all I suggest that route.

You’ve managed to skip over the one legitimately good Fast film, Fast 5 is undoubtedly the high point of the franchise and perfectly rides the line between ludicrous action and high-octane fun that subsequent entries have struggled to balance.

        • bogira-av says:

I’ve been told that so many times! I keep promising myself I’m going to watch them all but I just never find the time. I’m going to this summer watch them because they were fun and it will totally be worth it to burn some evenings enjoying them.Worse case scenario, I watch them after 11 are made which seems weird, why stop at 11 unless you want to ignore Tokyo Drift which doesn’t feature Diesel but that only has him featured in 9…why not go for 10 or 12?

  • brickhardmeat-av says:

The first 20 seconds or so of the trailer suggested they were changing gears and I started imagining it would be all about sharing baby sitting duties with neighbors and borrowing lawnmowers and family BBQs and shit and I finally started to identify with the heroes’ challenges and goals. Though the end does also remind me about the time I drove a modified Nissan Skyline into space with vacuum suits jerry-built from fish bowls and duct tape.

So this time they bring back Gal Gadot, right? It’s not like they can’t afford her.

I family my life a quarter family at time.

  • daymanaaaa-av says:

These are going to keep coming out until they’re all playing bumper cars in a retirement home huh?

  • rigbyriordan-av says:

If Han is back … shouldn’t we get Gal as well?

  • thesillyman-av says:

This movie looks so damn stupid….Im so fucking excited

  • docprof-av says:

I am fully vaccinated and will be going to a theater to see this and will love every single god damn second of it. If you don’t enjoy the F&F movies, I legitimately feel bad for you. They are amazing dumb fun.
