The Wire, now in musical form

Aux Features TV

This past weekend marked the 10th anniversary of the premiere of The Wire. Yes, the show you thought you totally “discovered” in 2008 actually debuted in 2002, and Maxim, of all places, actually put together a pretty stellar oral history of the show. But now one of the greatest shows in television history has made the next logical leap: musical! The folks at Funny Or Die convinced Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar), Sonja Sohn (Kima), Larry Gillard Jr. (D’Angelo), Andre Royo (Bubbles), and Felicia Pearson (Snoop) to get together to sing and dance about the drug ills of Baltimore (and America, you guys). Okay, so maybe Gillard is the only one who acquits himself as a decent singer in the clip, but it’s still fun and it’s probably driving David Simon batshit crazy, so that makes it all worth it. Alternate title: Bubbles And His Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.
