Today in Star Wars rumors: John Williams seems pretty confident that he'll be scoring more Star Wars movies

With the return of the original Star Wars cast all but confirmed by unofficial scoops on the Internet, attention has naturally turned to other, less certain aspects of the next generation of Star Wars, such as whether its posters will look the same and whether it will have spaceships. (The A.V. Club can confirm exclusively that it will have spaceships.) But perhaps most importantly, whether it will still have the John Williams score that made even the prequels great, provided you just listened to them. And according to comments made by Williams himself, at least John Williams is pretty sure that it will: The 81-year-old composer introduced a recent performance of his classic Star Wars theme by musing reverently over the series’ incredible longevity, then said, “Now we’re hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016…so I need to make sure I’m still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George.”

Of course, some cynics may point out that even two or three years can be like a lifetime when you’re 81, but that would be assuming that John Williams is ever going to die, which is an awful thought and you should shut up right now. Others (like Coming Soon, which passed along the original report) have pointed out that “George” doesn’t work here anymore, and that J.J. Abrams already has his own favorite composer in Michael Giacchino. Still, one has to assume that Williams’ themes will still be used, at least, otherwise it’s not really a Star Wars movie. They might just be filtered through Giacchino’s screechy violins.

We also hear that today's kids enjoy "dubstep," so maybe it will be played on some dubsteps.
