While tomorrow’s Oscar nominations will set out to celebrate everything good that happened in cinema over the last year, the Razzie Award nominations are here now to revel in some of the truly bad performances and projects from 2022.

Andrew Dominik’s Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde leads this year’s nominations, with 8 nods, including for Worst Picture and Worst Director. Blonde’s star Ana de Armas has been granted mercy with zero nominations, but nearly everyone else involved is taking the flak for the film, including supporting actors Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams. Dominik even earned a nom under the Worst Screen Couple for his performance opposite “His Issues with Women.”

43rd Razzie© Nominations

Other frontrunners for the Razzie nominations include Mod Son and Machine Gun Kelly’s stoner comedy Good Mourning, Disney’s Pinocchio (the far worse of two Pinocchio adaptations this year), and predictably, Marvel’s Morbius.

Under the acting categories, Tom Hanks earned two nods for his uniquely terrible lead performances in the Baz Luhrmann biopic Elvis, as well as for his role of Gepetto in Disney’s Pinocchio. Pete Davidson follows right behind Hanks, with nominations for his starring voice role in Marmaduke, as well as his cameo role in Good Mourning.

    Hack shit

  • drkschtz-av says:

I would never even know if Blonde was deserving of Razzie’s because the media is incapable of reviewing the actual quality of a work more than it’s sociopolitical standing.

  • taco-emoji-av says:

Aren’t the Razzies just, like, one dude in his mom’s basement or something?

  • milligna000-av says:

    What boring choices.

  • weedlord420-av says:

I couldn’t give less of a shit but I respect the folks who run the Razzies for going to the trouble of making/presenting fake awards rather than just making catty Letterboxd reviews like so many others.

  • croig2-av says:

I think it’s pretty shitty of them to nominate Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Haven’t seen the movie, I don’t care if she was terrible in it. She’s 12, she doesn’t deserve to be called out like this.

    • bcfred2-av says:

No wonder I didn’t recognize the name.  Yeah kids should be off-limits.

    • south-of-heaven-av says:

Came here to say this. After what we (and I mean “we” as in me too) as a Star Wars community did to Jake Lloyd, I totally agree, kids are off-limits.

    • jericho256-av says:

Yes, its always classy to nominate kids for these types of awards… jeez these people need a good slap on the back of the head to reboot their senses.

      • gargsy-av says:

“Yes, its always classy to nominate kids for these types of awards…”

Ah yes, the Razzies are synonymous with classy.

    • gorillawhale-av says:

Totally in agreement here. It’s one thing to mock a child’s performance in a forum like this — we’re all entitled to our opinion and the kid will likely never read it— but to do it in such a public way is just really shitty and uncalled for.

Disney’s Pinocchio (the far worse of two Pinocchio adaptions this year).Three. There are three Pinocchio adaptions from 2022, with the Disney version being far superior to the worst version.

    • weedlord420-av says:

I don’t know, imo it’s a close race. At least the Shore one was a special kind of awful. The Disney one is not only creatively bankrupt, but it’s not nearly bad enough to be entertainingly bad. Like, I’m sure I could get hammered with some friends and enjoy the Shore one, whereas I’m pretty sure we’d all just boo and turn off the Disney one by the time it gets to that “Chris Pine” joke.

  • bio-wd-av says:

Well I’m quite okay with piling on Blonde and calling out the bizarre attitude towards women in the film.  That one interview with Andrew Dominick was impressively bad.

    • chestrockwell24-av says:

The more bizarre part is they completely fabricated a rape occurring.  Like…why?

      • bio-wd-av says:

I think that was from the book.  A not great book.  Also the lowest for me is when the interviewer points out a lot of things Marilyn did in life that the movie doesn’t bring up, and Dominick just says yeah well this is a story of a woman who kills herself.  Jesus.

      • gargsy-av says:

It’s bizarre that they fictionalized something in an adaptation of a completely fictionalized book?

        Do you *ever* understand anything?

  • kinjacaffeinespider-av says:

Did his mother name him “Machine Gun”?

  • thepowell2099-av says:

I’d like to see the Razzies introduce a new category for “Worst Film Awards” and then every year the nominees just be:Hollywood Foreign Press Association, “The Golden Globes” Hollywood Foreign Press Association, “The Golden Globes” Hollywood Foreign Press Association, “The Golden Globes”

    • jodyjm13-av says:

But wouldn’t they need to nominate themselves, too? Wouldn’t they open themselves up to accusations of favoritism?

  • bcfred2-av says:

My first thought was “wait, Stallone starred in an adaptation of a Richard Price novel and I didn’t know about it??”  This makes much more sense.

  • coldsavage-av says:

I honestly forgot about Blonde. I felt like it was going to bomb when the only news in advance of its release was Ana de Armas “lamenting” the amount of nudity in a way that seems like guerilla marketing to juice numbers.

    • bio-wd-av says:

Dont forget all the times Marilyn’s ghost was on set.  What a weird thing to say to market the film.  I like to think her ghost was haunting the crew because she hated the film too.

      • ohnoray-av says:

ugh I tried the movie and gave up. I’m still grossed out that Dominik took this truly enduring, magnetic and intellect of a woman whose legacy reaches far beyond her trauma, and then rooted her strictly as some narrative device to be abused by men (and by extension, himself as the writer)

        • bio-wd-av says:

Yeah I was skeptical from the first announcement since the source material was… not great.  But boy did Dominik dig waaaaaay deeper then I expected.  Gross and misogynistic is the two words bouncing at me after watching.  Should have called it The Passion of the Monroe, would be more honest with itself.  This was so miserable it really makes me wonder if Assassination of Jessie James was actually as good as I remembered.

        • gargsy-av says:

          HE. ADAPTED. A. NOVEL.

    • anathanoffillions-av says:

as I recall, and I don’t plan to look into it again, she was lamenting that people would find her being naked sexy, and that clips would probably wind up on porn sites. While the clips part is gross it isn’t news, and I don’t quite understand putting a beautiful woman naked in your movie to only make you want to jump off a cliff or like, kill sex forever.

  • ghostofghostdad-av says:

Remember when they would nominate every Transformer sequel so they could make the the same transphobic joke every time?

  • gruesome-twosome-av says:

I can’t believe the Razzies are still a thing in 2023. They were never even funny to begin with.

  • nx-1700-av says:

Stallone ???? You got to be kidding . While not a great film it was ok and he was good in it .The Rock was a rock in Black Adam and is way more deserving

    • queenthemighty-av says:

The Razzies nominate the same people over and over, no matter how decent their performance. They never got the memo that a movie can suck, but the performance can be just fine.

  • thegobhoblin-av says:

Things like MST3K, How Did This Get Made, Rifftrax, and similar bad movie-based forms of entertainment work because the the comedians are funnier than the movie is bad. There was a point where the Razzies were funnier than the movies they mocked were bad, but in recent decades the level of humor has gone down and the movies they choose to target stopped being bad and are just not that good.

  • srhode74-av says:

Aw, and Moonfall tried so hard. Better luck next year, Moonfall.

  • mcpatd-av says:

Bryce Dallas Howard was the only good thing about that stupid movie.

  • sophomore--slump-av says:

Hey, I learned there was a Marmaduke movie from this, and I can 1000% see Pete Davidson taking zero moments to agree to doing it.

  • stevennorwood-av says:

I didn’t think ANY of last year’s Pinocchios were worthwhile. Just sayin’.When are people going to stop bagging on Bryce Dallas Howard. That just seems mean, man. Hanks and Leto at least were giving their all.
Of all the films on this list, I didn’t see a lot. Somehow I did see Good Mourning, and I can say, yeah, it might be worthy of the nod.

  • rigbyriordan-av says:

    Worst Supporting Actress
Adria Arjona, MorbiusHow DARE the Razzies. Adria Arjona is PERFECT in everything!!

  • nycpaul-av says:

Turns out Ana de Armas is just too damn hot to be nominated.

  • cosmicghostrider-av says:

No love for The Rock in Black Adam? I guess it was that middling.

  • ryanlohner-av says:

Remember when they made a whole category just to mock Bruce Willis for racking up so many tiny roles in crap DTV movies, and then we found out why he was doing it, so they had to publicly apologize and scrap the whole thing? That was the most interesting these things have been in decades.

  • name-to-come-later-av says:

I think the funniest possible thing for this is that there is a non-zero chance that Hanks in Elvis earns an Oscar nod for supporting actor.  Between the Academy’s love for him and the fact that Elvis is generally the sort of movie that they shower with awards he might get in.  Not win but get in.  The hilarity of the same performance earning Razzie and Oscar nods is just too sweet and shows pretty much every reason why I don’t care about any of these awards.

  • rev-skarekroe-av says:

The Razzies are garbage. They don’t nominate the worst movies or performances, just the most high profile ones (Blonde) or low hanging fruit (Sly Stallone).
Remember when they nominated Sofia Coppola for Phantom Menace, even though she’s basically an extra who just stands there in the background?

  • anathanoffillions-av says:

I’m a little glad these exist only so Tom Hanks wins for Elvis, but they need to put an age limit on these awards.  Putting a little girl in here is not okay.  They should do an age cutoff of 18.  Like, doing this is so bad that to watch the razzies is basically participating in bullying.

  • yllehs-av says:

Aside from Blonde and Elvis, I don’t think I knew any of these movies existed.
