At the end of The Americans’ best season to date, a moment of intimate honesty is disrupted by ’80s America’s nosy neighbor: President Ronald Reagan. Dutch’s speech about keeping up with the nuclear-armed Joneses contributes to “March 8, 1983”’s air of dread and anxiety, but it proved to be a sticking point between DVR Club’s resident Americans experts, TV editor Erik Adams and senior producer Gus Spelman. Watch as Gus steps out from behind the camera (did we mention he’s usually behind the camera for these videos?) to discuss the evil empire and the proper way to film a staged suicide, then be sure to read Erik’s review of the finale and Zack Handlen’s thoughts on the season as a whole.
